Dortmund – Arsenal: Predicted Line-up

Europe is beckoning!

The-colors-of-a-changing--008

I was so high after the Liverpool result, I was able to take this picture! πŸ™‚

Just a quick one, as I have no time at the moment.

Tonight Arsenal have the sort of opportunity we love football for: a top football encounter with the current nr.2 of Germany playing the nr.1 of England. It does not get much better than that, but if you are not looking forward to tonight’s game, you most definitely are a Spud! πŸ™‚

Formation wise, there is not much to say. The team is likely to be unchanged with a small chance that Gnabry will start instead Rosicky and Monreal for Gibbs.

Arsenal v Dortmund Nov 13

Tactics wise, there is not much to say either: play the Liverpool game again. Play compact and make the middle watertight; play a high tempo and don’t let them settle where they can hurt us; combine well and penetrate them where it hurts them; switch over quickly from defence to attack, and from attack to defence; be lethal when presented with opportunities.

Outcome wise, I feel good about this game. A draw would not be a bad result, but a win is on the cards. Less pressure now we are away from home and our almost strongest team will start tonight: the defence is in tact, Zorro is back, Cazorla is finally warmed up, Ozil is ready to lift himself to the next level, Giroud and Ramsey are on fire, Rosicky is back in his spiritual birth place, and Wenger deserves a belated birthday party.

Time for the boys to announce themselves properly in Europe. Let the battle commence.

COME ON YOU RIP ROARING F*CKING BRILLIANT GUNNERS MAKE US PROUD!

  1. Thanks Busy van Bastard πŸ™‚

You know my controversial although logical views on this game. I wouldn`t play any of the above. So it is logical although not controversial that I am cuckoo !. 😯

  2. Second !
    Hahaha….beat you Fozzer !

  3. Fozzie B says:

Hahaha Cockie you bastardo you’ve done well my Cockie munching machine!! πŸ˜†
Afternoon Dortmund Dick Dongler Desirers!! I have a good feeling about tonight too Totes … A very good feeling… Stay strong brother Cockie .. we have only Manure then the interlull to rest the lads!! πŸ˜€
Jacky, Poldi and Theo will be fully recovered!! Gnabry to give some relief to Rozzer so he can play on Sat too!!
I heard on talk shite that Marks and Sparks women’s clothing line is in tatters!!! It’s time for… You guessed it Cockie …. The BK Tranny line tha you have stored in the annex!! πŸ˜†

  4. TotalArsenal says:

With that Cocky attitude, Ozil would never have signed. πŸ˜‰

  5. This (for me, at least…) is an interesting one. I think both managers will be stressing the importance of not losing so it may be a lot more cagey and less open than we expect. If a goal happens, then, of course, it may open up.

The team picks itself, with the only question being whether or not Gibbs actually picked up a knock vs. Liverpool and gets replaced by Nacho. The rough part is that this same 11 will likely have to go again on Sunday at OT…No injuries today, OK?…

Did anybody watch United play yesterday? They literally put me to sleep. When I awoke (about the 55 minute mark) the commentators kept talking about how the 2nd period was so much better than the first. It still looked pretty bad… The misses from Chicarito and RvP–actually his were hits, as in hitting the post!–were pretty ugly. The ridiculous dive (pen given…) by Ashley Young was even uglier…

ManU will be watching our match and rallying themselves for a season defining effort on Sunday and that match, frankly, is the more important of the two. As such, my hope is that our 11 play rather conservatively today–defense (defence?) first, keep shape (no sloppy goals conceded…) and try to hold some possession. From this solid platform we then go on and try to create chances. That it will be these same guys (i.e., we’re too thin to rotate…) in another big, hostile away stadium means that there’s much to learn and maybe a bit of energy and/or effort to conserve…

O-GAAT, of course, but today may be one where the performance is (nearly) as important as the result?… That’s my take… But (AA) WTF DIK?…

  6. James Bond says:

    yep yep,

a draw may not be a bad result as such but a win would be marvelous and just what the doctor ordered !

the lads will be disappointed due to what happened last time and will want to fix that by winning it – they sort of ruined the boss’s birthday, didn’t they ? i’m hearing, he still accepts late gifts – 3 points and a 100% performance from everyone be very welcome, indeed.

    2-0 to the Gooners !!!

where are Jgc-Damus , Gerry, 17HT and the rest of the fine gooners today ?

  7. Fozzie B says:

Picture the BK catwalk if you will … Cockie on refreshments, Stetch on hair, Vickers on seating πŸ˜† (lots of upside down zimmers required) JB on undergarments (loin cloth friendly) Sammy the eagle on the mic, 17h and HH on publicity and makeup!!
Wow what a fantastic setup? We will broadcast on All hail Cockie vision!! It’s like TV but with lesbanians and special bake cookies for the all round 3T (for trannies) what shall I do? πŸ˜† nows your chance!! Sorry if I’ve missed some off … This is a sudden thought and I will look at the list again later! πŸ˜€

  8. James Bond says:

just read the previous article comments and gotta share this one again since it’s hilarious @ TCM wrote

    Afternoon Tumbleweed Trannies !. πŸ˜†
Anyone see that general piece of news on Arsenal Newsnow ?.
Well, a Liverpool drug dealer Curtis ” Cocky ” Warren ( no relation and I only deals drugs in Lesbania, where it`s legal ! ) has been ordered to pay Β£198M !!! or spend a further 10 years in Prison !. Hahaha Criminal scousers are worth more than their football club !. He will be popular in Prison……” You`ll never wank alone ! β€œ

    ahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahah

    ahahhaahahhahahahahahahah

    good 1 !

ah, 17HT is here, so all is well in the world of bk πŸ™‚

i think, Gibbs will play today @ 17HT, he’s got a very fine understanding now with Santi and our MF in particular, he offers us pace down the flanks, although if we Play Nacho then we can allow Sagna to attack from the Right flanks more often but with Gibbo it’s a case of Sagna bombing forward and then Gibbs, so the understanding is there – i doubt if Wenger would want to change it now but if he does, then we won’t lose out on quality as such – it’s a selection headache to have .

personally, i would play Nacho and unleash Gibbs at Old Toilet .

re- Man utd, i was watching and even their own supporters were yawning, the ones who spent a large chunk of money to be there, tells you a story ? doesn’t it.

we will have a lot of fun on sunday but that’s for another day, today the party is at Dortmund

  9. 17highburyterrace says:

This fine gooner is here…but lots to do before match time…

    Have we bought anybody yet?… πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

I’ll be back for the match and looking for some chat… Bond, it could be time for you to come up with an alter-ego (Q, Moneypenny, oddjob 😯 …) if you’re hurting for somebody to talk to… I guess you’re still bemoaning how you chased that (always entertaining) guy Glic off the site….

Think about it, Fozzie has his Cockie; jgc has his gerry (and his geoff); Dylan has his AFC (when they’re not playing football, or other games…) and I just write and write and write or otherwise entertain myself (when I’m in the mood)…

    πŸ˜†

  10. TotalArsenal says:

Just to let you know, from now on there will be a maximum of two posts a week by me between now and Christmas (until my current project comes to an end). I will issue posts by other if and when I can, if of course I receive any.

  11. James Bond says:

ahahhahaahahaha – that’s harsh @ 17HT – i am a “freelancer” and an all-rounder πŸ˜‰ everyone can have their “chat buddy” as i consider all of you my chat buddies – yep, V for Visionary and V for Versatility πŸ˜‰

but i think you’re ignoring TA, me and him usually have a nice banter.

oh yikes, no worries TA, thanks for letting us know, maybe someone else will step up to the plate and fill in on a regular basis ? no, don’t look at me, i’m the king of delegation, ha

  12. Hello TA,all

I’d go for a draw though this has the feeling of a 2-0 for the good guys

can’t lose this one and don’t know how to stress on this..NO injuries!!!!

OGAAT with one eye on the weekend fixture at old toilet

    COYG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. ooh..on the line-up, swap Gibbo for Nacho..need him fresh and unscathed for old toilet

and depending on the score, flow of the game..introduce Gnabry for Rozy at the 65th minute

  14. TotalArsenal says:

Absolute and total OGAAT, KG, fully agreed. Not for a second should the players think about our game against the Mancs. Today’s game is about establishing where we are in Europe and a win will give us wings going into any next game.

If we try to play calculated football it will all go wrong, and I reckon if we lose today we will also lose on Sunday. SO OGAAT OGAAT OGAAT and just play for the shirt! πŸ™‚

Dont worry about injuries either: just play with all we have for a win; we worry about anything else later.

  15. James Bond says:

    KG,

agreed- re NO INJURIES, we can’t afford to lose anyone to injury , don’t mind on a couple “limping off ” the pitch after the 80th minute mark once we are 5-0 against man utd , though πŸ˜‰

for today, it’s important not to lose anyone to injury, fingers crossed !

but on a more positive news, the likes of OX, JW, Afobe, Poldoski and Theo have been training together back in london, massive massive lift.

  16. Indeed TA..OGAAT

007..hahaha..fully agreed..a ‘cough’ should be to withhold our players from participating in the POINTLESS internationals

but let’s get the job done tonight and worry on SLAYING the broody woman and his ‘team’ later

  17. always nice to see the Ipod posting his come-back pics…aha!

  18. “Fozzie has his Cockie ! ” and my Cockie is Fozzie !. hahaha

Thanks JB, Totes always interrupts my satire with a ……….New Post !.

Come on then Totes…..spill the beans….what`s the project or is it too secret…..like you`ve taken over from ” Cocky the drug Baron ! “. Lets face it……Holland is only known for about 4 things…..God`s birth place, drugs, porn and Steve McClaren !. We can leave the Steve McClaren impersonator job out as that wont pay enough and you don’t sound the religious type, so it`s one of the others !. hahaha

  19. 17highburyterrace says:

James, you really should step in and write up a blog-post (about transfers, natch)…maybe during this period when the forces of good (Total Arsenal) are at their most stretched… πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

I really must do some chores before kick-off but I think we can play both hard AND smart. It’s not about keeping something in reserve for the league match, it’s about working on team concepts against a great team (Dortmund) so as to employ them against other good teams (United and all the other English clubs). Anyhow, this is what I will be watching for today–controlling the match, esp. in our half and near the center circle with possession and well-organized (as opposed to panicky…) defense…

Total, I’m good for a post somewhere in there during the interlull, if you need one…Don’t work too hard, eh…

  20. proudgooner says:

my bet is placed at coral samti to score first we win 3-1 at a great odd of 250/1 put a Β£5 on it if it come in returns Β£1255 i was going to go for a tenner. At them odds it is well worth a 5er.

  21. proudgooner says:

Over to you mr Cazorla do me proud man. That is the punter PG tip of the day, I am very happy with it. even if you put Β£1 on you will get Β£251 back if it come in at coral it has to be worth Β£1.

  22. Gerry says:

Hi gang – I’ve been waiting for this all day. But you’re forgiven TA πŸ˜€

Right, part of my absence from yesterday was because I lost my broadband connection, but after much antivirus checking, it turned out to be my wireless connection running so slow , everything was dropping out. On my 200mps LAN circuit now.

First, a little note I was trying to get in last night. Win, lose, or draw tonight, we can still qualify. More importantly, if we win the next two rounds (Mars/Nap), it means it is still in our hands. The permutations are that we top the group – if Napoli beat Dortmund – or we are runners up to Dortmund – they win all their remaining games.

So we can play with a certain amount of freedom? The final game against Napoli would be a bit of a cliff-hanger!

I am looking forward to tonight, complete with lucky scarf. I am glad my prediction about Gibbs injury looks like being correct, a minor calf strain. Either way who starts, I would expect Monreal to double up late on with Gibbs, as they do not tire easily?Same on the other side too. Gnabry for Rosicky late on, for defensive help with Sagna?

As I wrote earlier(yesterday), they have serious pace down both flanks; either PEA or Blauk, and the FB on the right, and Smezzer and Reus down the left.

It will not be like the ‘Pool game!

Down the middle they have Mikitaryan – rested at the weekend – and Sahin. Add big Lewi up front, means defensively we are going to have to be solid …to a man!

However, their CB’s can get it wrong, and their GK can panic. So it will be possession, and quick in ‘transition’. Whoever does that best will win.

    Simples

  23. jgc says:

    TA et al

Condolences or congrats on hearing you are so busy.. These days busy isn’t always bad.

Regarding eh the game. We can score, it’s almost a given, it’s defense and as a team that matters for us now as theodffense will continue to get better give or take the injury gods.

Last game they scored off one mistake (they happen) and one bit of relatively high level magic. We got one back. To me, it was close fought and coulda been either way and just wasn’t ours on the day.

Today, I think we will be better away, more aware and less mistakes perhaps (?), as we often are it seems. So, we are good odds myself 2-0 perhaps 2-1 good guys. If we score first it could be psychologically devastating and perhaps shades of BM, Milan, Barca in prior CL knockout rounds for ours confidence. Ie we could go big in the right conditions, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

IMO, it’s the tightness and ability in midfield to shut down service as much as possible to Lewie et al. Force them to beat us with others (that they have). So if we can shrink the field and make it hard through good pressing and tight midfield…

Finally, regarding articles I might be able to get 1-2 for you over the weeks.

    Cheers — jgc

  24. Gerry says:

Just a little aside, we have Michael Oliver reffing the Unied match? I thought the onlyreason why we got a balanced decision maker last weekend was because the ref had a bias against both us and Liverpool?

  25. Gerry says:

    United even Doh!

  26. proudgooner says:

a welcome sight. the lads are all nearly ready πŸ™‚ .

  27. Gerry says:

Can I makea suggestion regarding post – If you send them in in the normal way thenit is still dependent on TA’s time to get it out – whereas If the Monday post was titled ‘Open Forum’, whoever felt like putting in a subject, it could just keep rollong?

Maybe say ahead of time that you have an idea, so one discussion can be wrapped up?

    That could include you JB?

  28. Gerry says:

That might have been ‘rolling’ or ‘rolling on’ … it has been a long day!

  29. jnyc says:

Play today without pressure, as the underdogs, and away – might be better for us. Our guys will want to make a strong showing in europe. But my eye is on sunday. I want to us to smash them! !

  30. henrychan says:

    Hi all..
Don’t you think it a good time for Rosicky to shine..?? Hehe..
He will give his best tonight.. as if this is his last game.. haha.. I mean he can rest after this.. cause walcott is back..
One goal and one assist from him to Giroud..

If Gibbs is not at his best.. give him some rest.. Nacho will do just great.. don’t do what AVB did to Lloris.. a very bad and selfish manager..

Let’s play the symphony.. Let play a great orcestra.. We are the Champion in an orcestra / symphony will be awsome.. hehe..

  31. James Bond says:

    ah, cheers @ The punter

    i use bet365 , put a 5’ver on 2-0 , getting 125 in return and a 5’er on us winning, sees me get a return of Β£25.

great odds on carol though, not sure why i don’t use it, ha

if there is a clear framework which can help TA and with releasing of posts in a timely and regular fashion, then i don’t mind @ Gerry

maybe we should do a mini conference with the regulars and see if there can be a mini plan which can be implemented in place ?

  32. Xavier says:

Just had a revelation… and I’m going to make a bet none of yall saw coming.

Arsenal Vs Borussia Dortmund for the champions league finals!!

    Yes i said it!!

    COYRRG!!!

  33. Gerry says:

JB, I don’t want to ruin your night, but you could have got 35/1 on Betfair for the 0-2 to Arsenal?

  34. Gerry says:

The best prices I like are:

    Dortmund lead @h/t, Asenal win f/t = 41/1

    Arsenal —”——-” –. Dortmund ” ” = 25/1

    Arsenal —” —— ” -. Draw ——” — = 19/1

    Draw —————” -, Aresnal —” ” = 11.5/1

  35. Fozzie B says:

Klop finally explained the heavy metal vs classical comment!!
“I love it when I look at the stats and it says, we have run 10km more than the opposition!!” … I picked up on the pressing thing too when we lost Cockie!!
Get the tazer out Cockie … It’s time to zap someone in the Niagra’s!! πŸ˜†

  36. James Bond says:

blimey, i accept and admit that i’m poor when it comes to doing homework on betting and odds, and i almost never use any other site other than 365, maybe it’s because i do it for a bit of fun

but since you put it that way Gerry, it does make me wonder sometimes about my laziness, ha

same team as liverpool- as expected.

BREAKING ARSENAL TEAM NEWS- Borussia Dortmund v Arsenal (1945 GMT)
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger names the same side that beat Liverpool on Saturday. Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky are all in midfield.

Arsenal’s starting XI: Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Arteta, Rosicky, Ozil, Cazorla, Giroud

  37. TotalArsenal says:

Brilliant decision by Arsene. Same team, same believe, same effort, same result…. at 35-1….

I predict 1-1, but then I usually do when top teams meet.

  54. alcide says:

    Good job Per

Wow, 8 Germans playing tonight, 1 Englishman (point out the commentators)…

I guess I’m on my own with the GDC (game day chat)… Why do keepers (Sir Chez) dive after hopeless causes?… Had Subotic’s kick hit the post, he’s stranded on the ground…

Our younger guys a little iffy so far…And Giroud finally gets a good touch…These are tough defenders to get by, however…

  59. alcide says:

Well done Kos… Resisted the temptation to tackle πŸ™‚ he’s learning!

  60. 17highburyterrace says:

    1-1 in Napoli, Inler…

  61. alcide says:

Yup, OM leading, and playing well so far apparently… Will they hold on for 90′ though?

  62. alcide says:

    Ooops

  63. 17highburyterrace says:

Alcide, I clicked on the other match during a deadball only to see the net bulge… We need to watch overplaying the ball in our own half…I’m talking to you Aaron Ramsey…

No offside there (called anyhow)…Euro refs calling it as if they hadn’t been drinking all afternoon…

  64. 17highburyterrace says:

Rosicky knows how it works…that looked just as yellow as Arteta’s…Chess match here…

  65. geoffchase says:

Advantage Played there…and Mikty goes wide with Sir Chez frozen…

    Let off!

  68. wenger's coat says:

this game is crying out for Walcott. we are not looking good at the moment, Arteta has made the ref his enemy and he has to walk on eggs for the rest of the game one more foul and he will be sent off.

  69. alcide says:

    Naples 2-1

  70. Gerry says:

And I’m only in audio HT, so I cannot comment ..

  71. 17highburyterrace says:

Marseille getting a result in Napoli was a nice idea…

Lewa gets a yellow…Chess match continues…Important time in the match…

  72. 17highburyterrace says:

HT. The flicks and head tennis is not what we need…Gotta bring the ball down and move it, ideally with passes. Athletically, Dortmund are a match for any team, so, with a ref calling everything, we need the ball…

Look for both teams to play hard for a half an hour, try a little something with the subs… (They’ve got PEA; we’ve got, uh, who do we have?… If it’s still nil-nil after 75, shutting it down might be in both teams’ best interest…

  73. alcide says:

Yep 17ht, very tactical, both teams playing with intent but caution, especially us. Let’s see if the gegenpressing loses intensity in the second half, maybe we’ll have a bit more possession and opportunities. It’s good football so far… A bit worried with Arteta’s yellow, it may impair his defensive game a bit.

  74. proudgooner says:

there is a link there gerry

  75. James Bond says:

gone perfecto so far, however, Dortmund still had 4 shots at goal compared to our 0…even though we had 61% as opposed to their 39% (baffling)

we need to tweak it a bit and get Santi, Ozil and Gibbs more involved in the game, the left hand side of the pitch needs more stretching and testing

Gnabry for Santi or Rosicky after 70th minute be really good @ AW

  76. James Bond says:

    and Ozil – wake up.

  77. 17highburyterrace says:

Hey no problem…I feel bad for you guys…The telly is very nice…

As I thought it might be, it’s very cagey and very technical…Gibbs is having a real struggle with Blash (I can’t possibly spell it…) on the left. Ramsey has gotten caught taking too many touches. Rosicky has looked bright running the ball forward but Ozil and Santi have yet to get going. Arteta looks a bit over-matched in the middle and the yellow, as tight as the match is being called, is unfortunate. He can’t get tight enough to our other players to allow for the one touch ball I want us playing… Flamini is such a key player for us in these sorts of matches…

Frankly, I don’t mind Ozil and Santi lying a little deeper and helping Arteta and the FBs…Ramsey’s confident play makes me less twitchy when it’s nearer their box than the center circle (or our half)…

This really seems like a one-goal match–but an early one would open things and then the ref might *really* want to get involved…

Whoa…Eto’o… They just showed “his” goal…Maybe it is important to pressure the keeper…

  78. 17highburyterrace says:

I would like to see Gnabry in this match, mostly because he’s German and I would LOVE it if he got a call for Brazil… Yeah, possibly move Rosicky left and pull Santi after 70-75?

I think Ozil, Santi and Sicky are doing good work…We just need a bit more of the ball…

2nd half on…Giroud called for an early foul…

  79. 17highburyterrace says:

    Ozil finally gets a call…

Our spacing is off…two guys trying to get in on 50-50s leaving us exposed on the break…

Sir Chez with a basic save, but concedes the corner…Miky over from distance…

  80. alcide says:

    Excellent Szcezsny!

  81. 17highburyterrace says:

Let off there…saved by the flag…Dortmund feeling it on the break…

Can’t get it out of our half right now…

  82. 17highburyterrace says:

Argh, dangerous FK conceded…Reus effort very poor…WE need to hurt them here with the match opening up…

  83. James Bond says:

    arteta a lucky man.

  84. James Bond says:

both giroud and ozil look poor tonight

  85. 17highburyterrace says:

We may not have subs, but we’ve got the linesmen… πŸ˜€

What a bring down by Reus…Giroud song reminds me that he’s out there…Indeed, like Wenger’s coat said, we need a player (Theo) who can run off the long balls to the big fella…

  86. 17highburyterrace says:

I think that’s a little harsh, James…They’re being well marked out of the match…Sometimes by our own guys…

Their touches aren’t coming off, true, but they’re still working hard…

Oooh, really poor right foot there by the big fella…

  87. 17highburyterrace says:

    RAMSEY!!!

  88. alcide says:

    Raaaaambo!

  89. 17highburyterrace says:

Wow!!!!! Rosicky stayed with it then Ozil to Giroud to Rambo!!!!!

  90. alcide says:

One opportunity, one goal, 1 nil to the Arsenal! Going to be a tough half hour now!

  91. Gerry says:

Time for Monreal? Maybe Hayden too?

  92. alcide says:

    Oooooph

  93. alcide says:

    Nacho man in 5 minutes?

  94. alcide says:

Omg that was a splendid cross from OG!

  95. 17highburyterrace says:

    Reus Whiff!!!!

Sorry Gerry…Monreal, yes, Hayden not in a million…Verm is our Captain, no?

Ohhhhhhh what a chance for Ramsey…What a pass from Ollie…

  96. alcide says:

Stopped on the line dammit! Let’s not get caught on the break!

  97. Gerry says:

    Better than 10 men?

  98. alcide says:

Got to calm the game down!

  99. 17highburyterrace says:

Cleared off the line!! and Mert flys in!!! and then trouble at the other end…match is on now!!!

  100. alcide says:

Yep, Arteta would be my choice for Nacho

  101. alcide says:

And Mikel almost got a second yellow and penalty πŸ™‚

  102. 17highburyterrace says:

Arteta is key and smart enough to know what’s what…Too much for Hayden…

Lewa dive (over Arteta’s feet) not bought!

  103. alcide says:

Please we’re playing well but let’s not try for a second too hard… Per close again!

  104. oz gunner says:

need to slow it down (then again what do I know. Let’s roll the dice and hit them on the counter when they push numbers forward). Ramsey is there anything he can’t do?!

  105. 17highburyterrace says:

    Mert heads over…

Verm as DM, for the would be managers, if they must…but I’d stay with Mikel… πŸ˜€

  106. oz gunner says:

    2-2 napoli – mars

  107. James Bond says:

    marseilleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
    2-2

  108. alcide says:

Our passing crisper, their pressing looser… We can hold this lead if we keep it tight!

  109. James Bond says:

can we take off Arteta @ AW

    pretty please ?

  110. alcide says:

Wow, this is turning good… Let’s watch the French missile, he’s faster that Theo…

  111. alcide says:

    Nope… It’s santi

  112. 17highburyterrace says:

OK, Dortmund subs are in…Hoffman and PEA…Nacho on for us (Santi, off) Next 5-10 mins are huge…

  113. 17highburyterrace says:

Arteta is a “good” risk, sits only for Marseille home match if he gets a 2nd…

Replay on our goal shows the brilliance of Ramsey in the #10 spot…Sicky did all the work as your b2b…

  114. alcide says:

Hmmm it far from a penalty

  115. 17highburyterrace says:

Ozil wins a throw, kills 30 secs letting Sagna take it…

    Rambo fouled by Sahin…More time…

    Kos hurt?…Shoulder to chest…WTF?…

  116. 17highburyterrace says:

Alcide, to what do you refer? The Lewa dive over Arteta should’ve been a yellow for simulation…

  117. alcide says:

No I meant NOT far from a penalty on the goalkeeper late hit on Kos… This is not the BPL πŸ™‚

  118. alcide says:

Agree on the Lewa dive, but Arteta was close still πŸ™‚

  119. alcide says:

    Nice polish tackle on Lewandowski!

  120. 17highburyterrace says:

    We’re doing well here…Kos chest seems OK…

Nice work from Rambo and Nacho on the left…

Sicky tackle (and Lewa foot…) gets the crowd angry…Or maybe it’s because they’re losing here…

  121. alcide says:

    Nacho really sealed his wing…

  122. 17highburyterrace says:

As my avatar would suggest, it was a Czech…(tackle, that is…)

Commentators referencing the late goal that led to a 1-1 result on our last trip to Dortmund…

  123. alcide says:

    Aye sorry

  124. alcide says:

Come on 5 more minutes or so, I’m dying here…

  125. 17highburyterrace says:

Corner chipped in to Lewa…Punch the head, SCSZ, punch the head… πŸ˜€ (Gotcha Alcide on the pen shout at the other end…)

    Bendy on for Ollie…

  126. 17highburyterrace says:

Verms for Sicky… 4mins of injury time, 2 already played…

  127. alcide says:

    COYG!

  128. 17highburyterrace says:

Ozil goes for the corner and gets it…This one is Oh-vah…

  129. 17highburyterrace says:

You can’t call a pen on the German Captain…Replay was not entirely convincing…

    FT…

  130. proudgooner says:

    yyyeeeSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  131. alcide says:

Wooooohoooooo! What a result! Perfectly played, superb defending, we kept our composure under pressure and hit them when we had the occasion!

  132. alcide says:

Klopp is crazy but class, shaking Arsenals players hands…

  133. alcide says:

And look at those fans singing (BD’s)

  134. 17highburyterrace says:

Wow, top of the group, Schweet…Finished 2-2 in Naples?…

  135. James Bond says:

    ahahahahhahahahhahahahahahhahaha

take note the rest of you lowsers in uk, europe and all around the world you fcukers ahahahahahahahahahahahhaahhahahaha

  136. James Bond says:

    3-2 naples

  137. alcide says:

Napoli unfortunately wins in the end, but we’re back more firmly on top now.

  138. proudgooner says:

Aaron Ramsy ha ha ha ha you are the man! on fire !
    JB,
you were spot on , we did the same to them as they done to us but better. so chuffed.
    COYG

  139. Prince says:

1st English team to beat Dortmund at their home ground.

Simply Amazing, i bet we would have turned a few heads in Europe this morning!

What would Ramsey be worth on the open market today?…….50mil for SQ?

Rosa MotM for me. He had two sets of lungs when all our other players looked so tired. Rosa even ran out and drew a foul from Reus.

The players started to believe in themselves a long time ago, now its time for our supporter to rid of the sofa and believe that this Arsenal team is extra extra Special.

The goats, the 30’s and my loins are stirring!

Oooh to, ooh to be, OOOH TO BE A GOONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  140. 17highburyterrace says:

    Thanks James…Sorry the bets didn’t work out…

Nice win and a great performance heading towards OT…

Diving as bad as Ashley Young (in the highlights)…Neymar 😯 😳 Cesc-Messi 1-2 was nice, however…

  141. alcide says:

If BD and us win against OM (who are definitely out), as long as Napoli doesn’t beat us with 2 goals, we’re good…

  142. 17highburyterrace says:

Nice one Princey…Sicky did sooo much on the goal…setting up Ozil with the pre-pre assist…Agreed about MOTM if I must choose…

  143. proudgooner says:

Soo now we will get Theo , Podolski, the OX and Sanogo back over the next week ohh so happy days. This month was when all the other clubs and fans were thinking these fixtures would undo us instead we start winning them all ha ha ha ha

  144. alcide says:

Rambo is unstoppable these days… He scores headers now πŸ™‚ Great assist from OG (and preassist from Γ–zil!).

  145. proudgooner says:

    17,
if the bets come in that is great, what is always more important is we win that is all that matters

  146. alexgunners says:

Good Morning PPP, Good Evening to the rest of you guys.

What a game. Who would have given us any sort of chance. 1st English team to beat them at home. WOW!!!!! What a performance and lots of heart from our team.
To me that is the difference between the last few seasons and this season. HEART and lots of it. Great to see.

  147. proudgooner says:

here here alcide it is fantastic, Giroud worked his nuts off and did really well.

  148. Gerry says:

Well I now see that the match is not available on the player until 23.00 Saturday –
    Thanks Sky!

  149. alexgunners says:

    Alcide,

Rambo is unstoppable!! Under appreciated by most of us over the last few seasons since the injury, but look what he can do. Non stop running, unmatchable work rate (except for Rosa and OG).
IMHO, let’s extend his contract at the end of this season.

  150. proudgooner says:

Did you see them 2 brave gooners sitting in the middle of the wasps nest in there bright red shirts ha ha ha ha got to love them. balls of steal!

  151. alcide says:

They hadn’t lost in their stadium for a while, too… Man that feels good πŸ™‚ a good rest on the plane and let’s get ready to beat ManU!

  152. alexgunners says:

    PG,

That was great to see the 2 brave Gooners amidst the Dortmund fans. Very brave indeed

  153. alcide says:

Hehe yes, but I recon BDs fans are top notch

  154. 17highburyterrace says:

Glad that Kos recovered from the GK hit…

The key for me was that Ramsey moved further forward as the match wore on. He can play DM (or anywhere) against the weaker teams but we need experience further back. In time, he’ll add that to his game as well…

It may not seem like it, but Ozil works hard (as does the entire team)…

BIG match at OT and a chance to really show that we’re the best (at least amongst the American owned clubs) in England…

    πŸ˜€

  155. 17highburyterrace says:

Hey Alex…Bella not quite ready to join the party? What’s the latest?

  156. proudgooner says:

    Alex,
here here again, he is just unbelievable how good he is . I always thought when he started scoring that he would not stop i really did, but to score so many and be as good as he is he has shocked me and he is still very young and bossing the games now. The man is on fire

  157. Fozzie B says:

    Woop didi woop!! πŸ˜†

  158. alexgunners says:

    Hi 17ht,

42nd week now. We are about to leave for the hospital to either have my wife induced or they will book a time to have a cesarean. Either way, its definitely only days away.
    Thanks for asking.
Cant wait for her to join the party

  159. James Bond says:

oh no, the bet worked out , the bets didn’t

    i lost 5 on the 125 return for 0-2

    however, i made 25 on the 5’er for the Arsenal win….net gain Β£20 – πŸ˜‰

exactly @ PG – happy days

  160. Fozzie B says:

Haven’t read any comments but just say that face from Wenger that JB has saved!! The super sneeky confident fox who has found the the nappies with the mother load!! Can you post it Tarzan?? It was after he was asked about old toilet this weekend!! πŸ˜€
He was like “well er after doing zumzing no ozer English club has done ….. ” πŸ˜†

  161. alcide says:

I said it before, but Nacho really sealed his wing when he got in, many attacks came in from the right before. Sagna was superb again, defensively, and also won many headers up the pitch. Great team win, Γ–zil indeed works harder than it seems. No weak performance tonight…

  162. proudgooner says:

ha ha ha Fozzie B, did you like that.?
We are top of 2 leagues say we are top of 2 leagues. ” we are top of 2 leagues say we are top of 2 leagues” lol

  163. alexgunners says:

    PG,

Real did buy the wrong welshman. The only thing they got right was to spend a fortune on someone to rival Ronaldo’s ego

What a pleasure it is to see him play like this after his career was nearly destroyed by an orc

  164. alcide says:

And two good saves from Sczeszny!

  165. Fozzie B says:

JB Draxler looks unstoppable in these highlights!! You reckon we still in for him? πŸ˜€

  166. James Bond says:

    there you go , FB

  167. James Bond says:

there is interest in him, yes @ FB.

  168. proudgooner says:

    JB,
Well done mate, even better always a pleasure to win a few quid whilst watch your club beat a team ha ha ha ha i love it

  169. James Bond says:

    that’s it @ PG

i’m an accumulator, slow and steady type , so if i am gonna put a 10’er i usually end splitting it

but what a fab night to be a goooooooooooooooooner

  170. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

What a fantastic result. I must say, i am delriously happy, dont even care that the wifes in.

Arsene said that this team will mature and prove the doubters wrong, both on there judgement on him, and the players

We are also begining to see a vindication of Arsene and the Clubs policies, and its only just started. We will grow as a Club and a team

The Ghosts of the Thirties are Stirring

  171. 17highburyterrace says:

    Gotcha Bond…Good job…

Good luck with the hospital visit, Alex. C-section may *sound* like a good idea, but mama recovers quicker going the other way… Everybody healthy is job 1…

… Hopefully Arsenal accomplished the same tonight and everybody is intact heading for the United match…

This one is really nice…The clean sheet is the true prize–all three points makes up for the slip up at our place…Now just one more with the skeleton squad… Hopefully we can use Theo as they tried to use PEA if we should fall behind at OT. ManU’s season will be back on track if they can beat us…As such, we should kick them while they’re down…”Chew off their heads and sh*t down their necks,” as we used to say during my team sport days… 😯

Terry, glad you’re enjoying it, in spite of “the troubles”…

Anyhow, thanks everybody for the chat today…

  172. alexgunners says:

Catch you all later as it’s time to see what is going to happen with Bella.
    Have a great day.

  173. proudgooner says:

    Terry Mancini hair Transplant,
Well said mate, If there is a better ran football club out there i don’t currently know about hem. Some of us could always see the bigger picture i had many arguments over it, but there cant all be as cleaver as us Terry ha ha ha ha lol

  174. Prince says:

    All the best Alexinho.

    Godspeed.

  175. Fozzie B says:

May I ask all the BK brethren to put their frilly arms around each other for a group hug!! …. πŸ˜†
Except that our leader is out getting pissed!!! Hahaha
The pink clogged one is smoking habanas after The Arsenal and Ajax winning tonight!! πŸ˜†
He’s probably made a fortune like PG and F
    JB! πŸ˜€

  176. proudgooner says:

    TMHT,
Just think about all them fans , our fans that were shouting out sack Wenger. If we ever lose him or well sadly 1 day we will. It will be the most painful day yet as a fan for me worse then any 2 or 3 of our top players over the Wenger years. I won’t have a bad word said about him and i really hope they have learnt to never question him again.

  177. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

Relax Alex, a joyous moment awaits you and your Mrs

Stick around with her. Dont do what i did, miss the birth coz i was to busy chatting up one of the nurses. Unless she is really fit of course, then your excused.

  178. Fozzie B says:

  179. proudgooner says:

    Good luck Alex.
    Fozzie B,
How did you know i had my pink clogs on ?
One player has has not been praised tonight at all let alone had his feet kissid yet is the BFG he was awasome tonight, like a brickwall he is vital to us now, world class imo

  180. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

PG, you really are a top fellow

Loyalty, paitence, dignity, you have all the required qualities to be a top Gooner, and pull loads of birds to.

  181. Fozzie B says:

In that instance Stretch please help Alex to avoid your inspiring choice if hair product and dental regimen!! πŸ˜†

  182. alcide says:

Hehe Goonerholic had his pound on 1-0 to the Arse at 20 to 1.

Good night all, good luck alex

  183. TotalArsenal says:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHhhhhhhhhhh the boys did us proud tonight. That was a very mature performance, and just think we could have had a bench today of Jack, Pod, Theo, Ox, Vermaelen…. Ooh to, Ooh to be…. πŸ™‚

  184. Fozzie B says:

  187. alcide says:

  188. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

Fozzie, i will take you to a game, whats your blood group? hahaha

Vics and Cockie like a bit of a moan, but seceretly they both have a six foot effigy of Arsene Wenger in there living room

Cockie stares at it as he simultanously writes a critic of Arsene, but he seceretly has a hard on

Vics stares at it, and nothing happens. hahaha

  189. TotalArsenal says:

  196. proudgooner says:

lol goodnight Fozzie B. Goodnight lads and ladies if there is any? night all

  197. Gino92 says:

What a game! Too bad Marseilles couldn’t hold on in the end but no matter. We are back in control in this group of death where everybody is beating everybody, with the exception of Marseilles as the “whipping boy”.

Man of the match for me has to be Tomas Rosicky. I swear he has an extra set of lungs in that 32-year old body of his. He never stopped running until subed off. He was quality tonight and helped out tremendously everywhere on the pitch. We really need to tie him down to a new 2-year deal so he can retire at Arsenal. Such an amazing team player! I love the Little Mozart! One of my favorite Arsenal players.

Ramsey does it again! The boy is of FIRE… He didn’t quit on the play and got just reward, hence redeeming himself after the costly mistake back at the Emirates. Bravo Rambo! Keep it going, please!

We are on an extreme high right now but let’s not get too carried away. We put in a lot of hard work tonight and need to recover quickly as Man U awaits on Sunday. Hopefully, the recovery process goes as smoothly and swiftly as possible so that we can play the same 11 starters.

Kudos to Mertesacker and Koscielny and the entire Defense. That was an excellent defensive performance.

Bring on United. 3-1 to the good guys!!!

  198. Ejaik. says:

That was a fantastic performance from the whole team.they were really up for it.Dortmund parked the bus and watching us stroke the ball around.that made creating chances more difficult for us.
Once we scored, they deserted their defensive tactics and push forward more, opening up spaces for us take create some more chances that could ve led to our second goal.

Rosa was my man of the match.he didn’t look 32 really with his performance today.very supportive in attack and defence.never afraid of putting in challenges all over the pitch.

Ramsey still doing what he always does.Great engine!!.manure up next on sunday!!.

  199. Gerry says:

Well I am a bit in the dark over performances, not having been able to watch the match, but I will see it before the Man U game.

One thing we must not do is play the same eleven for a third big game in a row. They are not machines, well not all of them. One thing is for sure, yet again we will be saying ‘thanks’ for an international break?

Reading the above comments, i am pleased that TR7 has been a star for so many of you. I said in an earlier post that if Ramsey is back in defensive duties then that is why Rosi has to play in front of that defensive pair. On that note, I will just put in an oblique plug for who, I think, will be his young replacement?

So, JB, I ask you nicely, Can you Go and rearrange 7 days of your schedule and get his signature in the early days of the transfer window opening? : πŸ˜‰

OGAAT – I hope that there are no physical repercussions from last night’s game, but we must guard against the mental fatigue that will inevitably set in after such a big high?

I suggest a minimum of two changes for Sunday.

1, The return of Flamini: Arteta was dangerously close to getting sent off, and that comes from being overworked. Two great performances in the last two games tells me he is on the edge now. But use Arteta’s absence for the second substitution, then share the work with Flamini, and he can recover fully in the interlull?
Flame for Rosicky would be my choice. Free up Ramsey to do his best work higher up the pitch, at the same time avoiding any injury that might be coming Rosi’s way?

2, Walcott to start, Gnabry to finish. Walcott has not been out with any lower limb injury, so he should have the legs to do battle with Evra once again. Give him an hour, and let Gnabry finish the job, as well as supporting Sagna defensively late on?
I would have Arteta out for an hour, then rest either of Santi or Mesult if the job is done, and we just need to secure the points?

Yes, effectively that is Walcott/Gnabry for Rosicky, but as Flamini is doing the 90 minutes, and Rosi is sitting the whole game out it makes it simpler the way I put it, or not?
That would also leave the final change for this effective ploy of bringing Monreal on the shore up the other flank too.

More pace going forward making up for Rosicky’s drive. More energy in the DM role across the pitch, and to keep the concentration in defence with constant talk.

Koscielny has been immense over a long period now, so I am hoping he is not an enforced change, and he does get a rest from some of his international duties, and the same for Per?

    Right that is OGAAT sorted

I hope you all read that RVJ was saying he could not keep going with so many games because he needs to rest his ankle injury .. and he played on Tuesday night? I just hope that Moyes has not worked out that Kagawa is quite good when played centrally? Perhaps he could bring back Jonny Evans just for a laugh too.

This will probably get lost on a drunken ramble of a review post, but hey, why not let him dribble into his black coffee as he writes? πŸ˜€

  200. Morning TA,all

    there you go..yo all welcome!!!!!!!!!!!

  201. oz gunner says:

good stuff Kenyan, what a reaction haha.

Singing OH TO, OH TO BE, OH TO BE A GOONER.
