The second battle of the season is due to start in a few hours. Judging from the fellow BKers’ predictions expectations are high for a big win, but I am wary of these wily Foxes.
Leicester are a team that will favour to be the underdog and with Dewsbury-Hall, Tielemans, Maddison and that pesty Vardy they have the guys to hurt us. Their defence may be their weakness with Schmeichel gone, Fofana a doubt and Evans in the heart of their defence. Our attackers will have to go for them from the start. Let’s be clinical guys!
An early goal for us would be bliss of course, but we have to be wary of their counter attacks, so let’s not be too adventurous.
Brendan Rodgers is a fine manager who fits very well with the Foxes. It looks like they have to let go of a few players to settle the books and we may see Tielemans come our way soon. As per my previous post, Partey’s right midfield position is an area for improvement and I think that is why the club have been linked with the Belgian. But that’s for another day.
The lineup will be likely unchanged. Only the unfortunate Nelson is out of contention, so Mikel has the luxury to pick and choose. Consistency is big for him at this stage and he will want this core team to grow in confidence, so there will be no change if you ask me.
This will be a big test (especially if the Foxes score first) and I am looking forward to it.
Come On You Rip Roaring Gunners!

We. Definitely look good for the win. My biggest worry is the big C. Complacency.
Spot on, the big C
No messing, go for the jugular, try to get a decent lead early and then sit back, control the flow of the game and hit them on the break, Jesus to get his first Arsenal goal, maybe we’ll see Tomiyasu later.
5 new players in, 24 players out, that’s some serious business by Edu and his team and he’s still got a lot to do, I think we can safely say that Mr Edu has earned his corn this summer…
That 15 players out on loan and 9 players left the club permanently…
Edu has been fab, Kev. Great work rate and he gets things done.
Yes a strong start is key. We need dominance in all areas for this. I am wary of their counters, though..

what do I care about city-b’mouth, wolves-fulham, s’ton-leeds, bha-‘castle??
gonna try and get a stream
It will be an interesting game against the visiting Foxes.
Leicester look like they will be set up to stifle us; tht worries me. They seem to have the intent to squeeze up things in midfield and give themselves a chance to spring Vardy on our defence. Good thing we have Saliba and Gabriel can’t be unaware of the danger that man poses. Chance for an audition for Tielmans?
Good luck, boys.
Xhaka assists Jesus who makes his mark scoring his first PL goal for Arsenal with a Bergkampesque delicate chip.
water break
feelin’ like listening to bim sherman’s “miracle” after GJ9’s magic touch
watching Granit play like young aaron ramsey is unexpected, but it worked out just fine, eventually
3rd outstanding save for ramsdale in 120 minutes – we’ll need him in that form again, they’re a ggod team, thses foxes
COYG
Bright start by both sides, with little to choose between. As the game wore on, the home side begn to steam its authority on proceedings. What a finish by GJ9. World class player we’ve got on our hands (how many times will we say that while he remains with us?). Xhaka has been more of a forward player today and it was his assist for the goal.
1-0.
good – these
The ref is being a mug, as always; could easily be a second yellow to Fofana and a yellow for Justin and the ref has looked away.
Goonereris has become “anonymous” again. Have to fix it with WordPress.
you love to see a vardy assist for the brand new arsenal hero
Arsenal 2 Leicester 0.
Jesus scored his and Arsenal’s second of the game.
This time it was Vardy providing the assist after a dangerous corner from the ever-lively Martinelli.
Hard to watch and type as there’s just too much movement to enjoy. It’s 2-0, GJ9 again.
Was to get a 3rd but for a timely lunge by Ndidi to deny him. GJ uses his body so well, with the skill and composure to finish whatever he intends. It is fantastic to watch.
Penalty to Leicester. Let’s see what VAR thinks .
Mike Dean is VAR so….
There was no contact, in my view. The Ref agrees after VAR required him to check the monitor. Vardy was looking for it and I think these pieces of gamesmanship should be sanctioned.
Great comments, guys. It all is going very well, even Mikey Dean is fair…
Vardy VARed off now
The times they’re a changin’, aren’t they?
Yeah LeG, he almost did us there.
Great game of football, the kind that makes you want to just sit back and enjoy, not analyse too much
Having said that, he-who-walks-on-water stands out, of course, but I like our statuesque back-3 (Big Ben, Big Bill, Big Gab) a lot too
Great finish by GJ9 – indeed Bergkampesque or even Henryesque
The Three Bigs 🙂
Oops, time to take the bulls by the horns. And Granitoh does! Love that guy.
Unfortunate own goal by Saliba (I thought he had to intervene or Vardy would be in on goal) to bring it to 2-1. But, after good work by GJ, Xhaka restores our two goal margin.
GJ9 believed he was clipped but ref and VAR having none of it.
OK, somebody is definitely playing a joke.
After a VAR – managed by Mike Dean – revoked a soft penalty, we have an assist and a goal for Xhaka…
Is it still Friday night and I’m dreaming?
Internal jokes aside, it was great to see everybody being so happy for Granit.
Poor LBG. 🙂
LOL
time for changes?
3-5-2??
ramsdale
white-saliba-gabriel
tomiyasu-odegaard-xhaka-smithrowe-tierney
jesus-nketiah
???
I’d vouch for that, Le Gall.
Partey and Saka could use some upgrade today, and Martinelli could be protected by a substitution.
But I could approve a string of one-for-one substitutions in the form of Sambi to Partey, Tomi to White, ESR to Odegaard, and Pepe to Saka as well.
F..k
Do our training sessions last only 40 minutes?
Great goal, btw, even though aaron won’t be happy – being beaten at the near post doesn’t sit well with most goalkeepers
Tomiyasu on for White who may have hurt himself. Tierney on for Zinchenko.
That was after we let them get a second but quickly hit back to retain our 2 goal margin.
4-2! Martinelli deserved that one for his work rate.
Saka needs a rest. So does Odegaard.
And GJ just missed a sitter to make it a hat-trick. He hit the side of the post.
We must not give them another sniff.
(live from twitter)
this CF is crap
let’s offload that deadwood
Looking forward to watching this game properly. Boys have done us proud and GJ09 will be very happy. Really happy Martinelli scored too.
Nice work-out for the lads. They will take confidence away from that and quickly get over allowing two goals in. That was a good Leicester side/performance.
Unlucky for Saliba but maybe communication with the keeper needed to be better. This team will take some beating.
Team is chugging along well…
Great attacking performance just a shame about the 2 goals conceded, both were avoidable, more work on our defence please but Arsenal are the team to watch, City won 4-0 but I bet it was tedious.
Great win. Loving this Xhaka but still caught ok the ball once and just holds on the ball a wee bit longer. Otherwise he has been good and looks like he will get 5 goals this season. Jesus has changed the team completely. His ability to get a shot off tight spaces is wonderful. Lot of competition for starts and taht will improve everyone.
Should be more tight defensively though and Partey was wasteful. He needs to be spoken to and made sure his head is in the right space.
Good win and long may it continue
Brentford 1-0 man United; and it is our Arsenal boy, Josh Da Silva scoring with another screamer.
Of course, DE Gea should be doing better with that one. But, who cares? Lol..
….ex-Arsenal boy, should I say… Once a Gunner,….
4-0 to need abd Gary Neville is dancing with the bees fan.
No one could have predicted this scoreline and dominance. The Bees were just all over united.
Football is about confidence. This United side is shorn of it. They have good footballers, otherwise.
I am at my mother in laws 80th birthday party today, still managed to follow on line. Talk about having the cake and eating it too. A beautiful day at the Emirates and at the Gtech Community Stadium, and in South Africa where the All Blacks got a couple of tries at the death to win. Happy birthday Ma….
If anyone can send me a link to watch the Emirates game, I will be a happy camper.
Stuart maybe this will help. I have no idea of the cost but here in Canada they have the rights to the EPL for the next 3 years and you can also cancel your subscription at any time. Here I pay $40 per quarter it’s a great app, you can record and put games on hold. I’ve recorded the whole season.

Thanks GN5. I have tickets for our next two games at Bournemouth and then home to Fulham, and then I fly back to NZ where I pay $200 a season for all games live and on demand. I’ll stay up for MOTD tonight. Can’t wait to see those goals.
So happy for Xhaka and Martinelli. I was hoping this would be Martinellis break out season. Looks determined.
Happy to hear that Stuart – it’s a long time since I watched a game live – way to long.
I’ll join a couple of chants on your behalf, Cyril. .
If anyone has stream problems.their is a site operating out of Toronto, called Arsenal list. They post video clips of goal, incidents etc a couple of minutes after they happen. They also leave recent matches up as well.
Sunday morning mood:
Yeh, LG. You’ve caught our mood.
