As it is the interlull, and we are a couple of months into the new season, this is a good time to make a few predictions on how Arsenal will perform between now and the end of the calendar year.
Below you will find a number of specific questions and I would like to ask all readers of Bergkampesque to answer these.
It is just a bit of fun, and please free to elaborate on your answers as much as you like. It should lead to some good discussions today.

Between now and 1st of January 2013 we will be playing the following matches:
October: Norwich (a), Schalke (h), QPR (h), Reading (a = League Cup).
November: Man United (a), Schalke (a), Fulham (h), Tottenham (h), Montpellier (h), Villa (a), Everton (a).
December: Swansea (h), Olympiakos (a), West Brom (h), Reading (a), Wigan (a), West Ham (h), Newcastle (h).
Question 1 (5 points for the correct answer):
Arsenal are currently 7th, only three points between the numbers two and three in the League Table, despite having had the toughest fixtures until now of all the PL clubs. What position in the League Table will Arsenal hold by the last day of December?
Question 2 (5 points for correct prediction):
Who will be our top goal scorer by the end of December? Gervinho is currently top scorer with 5 goals in all competitions, directly followed by both Podolski and Walcott with each 4 goals until now. Will Gervinho continue his impressive run, will Giroud find his rhythm in the autumn months, or will Theo overtake them all with his lethal cameo appearances?
Question 3 (5 points for correct prediction):
We have conceded five goals in the first seven games of the Premier League – three in the last two: how many goals will we concede between now and the end of December in the PL:
a) 0 – 3 goals
b) 3 – 6 goals
c) 6 – 9 goals
d) More than 9 goals.
Question 4 (5 points for correct prediction):
Arsenal won their first two CL games: how many points will Arsenal take from the remaining 4 CL games:
a) 0 – 3 points
b) 3 – 6 points
c) 6 – 9 points
d) More than 9 points.
Question 5 (two points for every exactly right prediction in the top-four – ten in total if all four teams are predicted in the right order):
The current top-four is:
- Chelsea
- Man United
- ManCity
- Everton
And the Spuds and West Brom are currently in 5th and 6th position respectively. But what will be the top four on the 31st of December (after last game played)?

I,ve tried the gigolo stuff, but thats cost me money (lol) now venturing into stirring tea for a living and maybe manoeuvring a 2 metre long piece of round wood with a load of bristles at the end. They call this sweeping in the trade.
Whatever you are going to do VCC, it will always be just temporary and if you can approach it philosophically, you might actually get more out of it then you think. 🙂

My prediction we will all the last 2 games in october..
Have two draw again MU and Everton away in November..
And win all the rest in Desember..
So we will add 35 points to 12 points.. 47 points..
Answer to question two: Gervinho..
Gervinho 14 goals, Giroud 12 goals, Podolski 10 goals.. Walcott 9 goals.. And Cozorla 8 goals.. hahaha..
Answer to question three: D
No problem with conceded more than 9 in 13 games if we can score 30 or more..
Answer to question four: D
Agree.. we only will draw once.. to schalke away in November..
And that because we play some youngster for nothing to worry anymore.. cause we already got 12 points by winning 4 times.. Total we get 16 points..
Answer to question five: 1. Chelsea 2. Arsenal 3. Man City 4. Man United
And we only defisit two point to Chelsea.. cause they will draw 3 times (spurs, everton and MU) and lose one again City.. hehehe..
That my grazy but optimistic prediction.. hahaha..

Would it not be great if we could beat the Mancs at Old Toilet with Giroud scoring a couple of goals whilst Van Persie draws blank throughout the whole game? 🙂
To be honest.. I am a big fans of RvP.. I wish him all the best..
But MU will not be in the big three.. Arsenal, Chelsea and City will..
I don’t see it will be easy in Manchester.. they will fight us with full power..
Cause the already lose Charling for Chelsea the day before..
And only by not lose to us they can stand up straight.. hehehe..
But there will be a lot of goals I predict.. 2-2 or even 3-3..
City will bring Falcao or (and) Jovetic in January..
On the other hand MU will sell Nani and Chicarito.. hehehe..
And also with a lot of injury problem..
Chelsea is still chasing for Neymar.. cause Torres will not score many..
I don’t know who will we chasing? Isco will be great if Walcott sell..

Henry, you are a nicer person than I am. Brave Sir Robin is the single biggest sporting disappointment I have had in many years: I don’t wish him to break his legs, but I would love it if his move to Man United turns out to be totally trophyless.
City and Chelsea cannot keep buying players, but your predictions are probably right. We just have to focus on ourselves and I feel we are a strong side, with for me, just two areas of concern, as per my post yesterday (DM and goalkeeper).

Nice to see you backing Giroud. I reckon he will be our king of assists but am not sure about his goal tally: he seems to need a lot of chances before he scores. Luckily he works hard and is strong mentally and he will come good eventually.
Question 1 and 5 are related, yes, but you can vary your answers with regards to Arsenal’s position in order to give yourself an extra chance to get points! 😆

Yes, TA, I went for treatment early today, but it appears I have become a little anaemic so treatment was postponed for another three weeks. These things are a balancing act, I suppose! 🙂

A proper, classical DM does not mean we would play more defensively. He would help us to dominate midfield from which we can build lethal attacks. Without that dominance it is much harder to play attacking football, and against certain teams we just cannot do without a DM.
I agree with you we have a fine set of midfielders but we lack a proper DM. Wenger said in the last week of the transfer window he was looking for one, and I can see why.
