Here is a bit of fun for you. A quarter of a century in the new millenium has passed and Arsenal have been great with many successes to boast about.
I was wondering what my team of the first part of the century would be and how I would choose my best possible 11. For me this should be a set of players with the following qualities:
- Great human beings
- Exceptionally technically talented
- Football intelligence
- Fit with the club’s values
- Ability to thrive in this day and age (assuming that they never passed the age of 30)
- Together they need to form an unbeatable 11 through ability, leadership skills, mixed skills set
- Absolute attitude to win
- Truly love(d) to play for Arsenal
So this is my best 11 over the last 25 years:

What’s yours? Could you beat my team with yours?
By TotalArsenal
Brought forward from last thread…..
Interestingly, Arsenal’s fixtures against Palace (Cup), Brighton and Villa all coincided with Nigeria’s group stage fixtures against Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda. Both teams won all 3 fixtures.
Long may the charm continue
Ooooh! That’s a tasty post right there.
I like your line up; only wish one could fit in Saliba, Alex is Sanchez and Santi Carzola in there, somehow.
A sub list, perhaps? Would you accept Robin van Persie in that group, on values?
Long indeed, Eris, continuing tonight!
Saliba, Sanchez and Santi are great considerations. All excellent players.
William needs to develop his passing game and i would like him to be more dominant during set pieces. On bench, though.
Alex seemed too mercenary to me. Great attacker, though.
Santi, just like Ozil and Fabregas came close, but for me something was missing to be in my top 11.
Santi-Declan was tough indeed, but …
Henry
Sanchez-Bergkamp-Saka
Cazorla-Vieira
Cole-Gabriel-Adams-Timber
Lehmann
… it is.
Tonight?
Gyökeres
Martinelli-Eze-Madueke
Merino-Nørgaard
LewisSkelly-Gabriel-Timber-White
Kepa
Yeah, I insist …
Honestly, lads, at the end of the summer transfer window, when we were all in awe of our brand new squad, who among you thought of the Carabao as a title worth risking losing some of our very best players?
My own personal order of priority was/is:
1. Champions’ League
2. Premier League
3. FA Cup
4. Carabao
Many of you will beg to differ about first and second, but certainly not about third and fourth. Then again, the team above is made up of 11/11 international players (Spain, England, Brazil, … but Denmark and Sweden aren’t exactly San Marino or the Andorra, are they?). Well, reading predictions about what out starting lineup will/should be tonight, you might think they’re no better than our U21s …
Am I the only to have meant what he wrote about the 2 teams Mikel had at his disposal this season? If Zubi-Declan-Bukayo start tonight, why have spent so much on squad players you don’t even trust to play the first of a Carabao 2-leg-tie against a team that’s not exactly been flying so far? Who thinks such an XI will lose tonight by a 3(+?) goal-difference, seriously? We’re entering the crucial months of the season; having Mosquera-Calafiori-Hincapié and – more than likely – Saliba-Trossard out already, isn’t enough, probably?
If the Liverpool stalemate proved anything, it is that our main players – the 3 above in particular – needed a break … actually I’d rather Bukayo hadn’t been subbed off last Thursday, than picked tonight …
Last but not least, the vote of confidence our usual 2nd choices would get would also buoy them up, and make sure they’ll be ready when called upon later on. Now, it’s indeed extremely likely Raya-Zubi-Declan-Bukayo and even Martin Ø will start tonight (I don’t agree with anything I’ve read-heard about Eberechi lately btw, but that’s another story), which means that last summer, when we were all praising Berta, we were giving rounds of applause to a guy having spent fortunes on hopeless, useless players, weren’t we?
COYG anyway, of course …
And Eris, btw … there’s the “split-screen“ option on my Canal App!
No Palmer, Caicedo or James.
Chelsea starting XI: Sanchez, Acheampong, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Fernandez, Estevao, Joao Pedro, Neto, Guiu.
Subs: Jorgensen, Badiashile, George, Tosin, Hato, Essugo, Mheuka, Buonanotte, Garnacho.
Arsenal starting XI: Arrizabalaga, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber, Rice, Zubimendi, Odegaard, Saka, Trossard, Gyokeres.
Subs: Raya, Jesus, Eze, Martinelli, Norgaard, Madueke, Merino, Havertz, Lewis-Skelly.
Mane does the business.
Looks like Mikel is going for it, taking advantage of the depletion in the Chelsea squad, wanting to take a lead back to the Emirates and make that second leg less stressful.
I’ll give you my team o the century (so far) after the match, Total.
Gyo comes alive! His best game in an Arsenal shirt. Clever assist for Zubi and a real number nines goal after all the criticism of his lack of movement into the six yard box.
A cracking cup tie, despite the feeling we could/should have gone home with a two goal buffer for the return.
Commiserations, Eris. We England fans know the feeling of losing semi finals on pens.
It was a sick feeling to see the team hold the hosts to a shootout and go out so tamely; I’d sooner take it to 10-9 on penalties than 4-2.
The team will live to fight another day, I guess.
I tried the split screen but I just only able to to focus on one game at a time and jettisoned the idea. 😁.
Happy for the win at Chelsea and even more so, seeing how Gyokeres played/scored. That will shut his detractors for a bit. We conceded two goals, very uncharacteristically but the win will make the second leg a bit predictable to navigate.
Nice one, duc. A strong 1/4 century 11. I think mine would beat yours if it was ever possible to have them play against each other, but some inspired choices there, especially Lehman.
Sorry about Nigeria, Eris. I will say it again, penalties to decide a game is a crime against humanity.
The challenge you set raises difficulties, Total.
If it were simply the best X1, I’d go for:
Cech
Timber Campbell Gabriel Cole
Viera Rice
Bergkamp
Saka Henry Sanchez
But you added, “truly loved to play for Arsenal” into the mix. I am pretty sure anyone would truly love to play for Arsenal. But what of those who did and then chose not to, and left the club for other pastures? Ashley, Cesc, Robin, Thierry… Their decisions may have been justified in terms of heritage (in the case of Cesc) or more money/trophies, but, to quote the Bard, “love is not love that alters where it alteration finds”.
Or as the wedding vows go, “forsaking all others to remain faithful to you as long as we both shall live”. You added not just “loved” but “truly loved” which, to my thinking implies for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.
So, with that in mind I am regretfully inclined to ditch Ashley, Thierry, Alexis and even Sol and Patrick (who left by mutual consent to “seek a new challenge” and submit the following:
Cech
Timber Adams Gabriel
Rice Carzola
Saka Rosicky Bergkamp Pires
Kanu
Great teams, Stu, and beautiful argumentation. Interesting take on true love for Arsenal. Players and club cannot marry, at least in most cases. Clubs move players on to cash in or avoid high wage costs. Wenger even suggested to Bergkamp to move on. The club will outlive players too.
True love for me is something that we sense when players wear the Arsenal shirt during their time at Arsenal. It’s intrinsic and makes you feel they really love the fans and what the club stands for. They play for a greater goal rahter than their ego. You feel they would die for the batch.
I also hubristically believe that my team would beat both of yours 😍
The game yesterday was interesting. I felt that both teams knew who was king from the start. It was sloppy to let two goals in, and that by the same player, but other than that we bossed it. Really happy for Gyo to score and assist, Ben to score and assist and Zubi’s classy goal.
Duc, I understand your squad usage argumentation but was not surprised to see the strong lineup. It did seem right to me for momentum’s sake.
The Xg stats looking good for us
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c0ke7223vp4o
Guehi on his way. Let’s hope Carrick can gee his boys up for the Manc derby.
Not sure, Total. I won’t deny you the right to hubris but I think your teams lack of recognised full backs would be its downfall. I imagine you have Saka and Rice as wingbacks.
I’d like to see Kev and Eris’s teams of the so far century.
Guehi to City would boost their players as he would be a great addition. I am surprised he’s accepted a mid-season move when a FREE transfer comes with greater benefits for him, including a hefty sign-on fee.
I understand even Semenyo “cleared” (sought guarantees we would certainly come for him in the summer) with Arsenal before moving to City. Pep now wants to do what comes easiest for his club: buy the league!
It will be an intense end to the season..
I thought I gave a hint as to my best 11, Stuart. It will go something like……
Lehman
Timber Campbell Gabriel Cole
Vieira Rice
Bergkamp
Saka Henry Alexis Sanchez
I hope the Lay-out works out right.
Let me try again
Lehman
Timber Campbell Gabriel Cole
Vieira Rice
Bergkamp
Saka. Henry Sanchez
Yes Stu, full backs are sacrificed for extra solidity and mobility in midfield. Saka and Rice can indeed function as wing backs with Dennis and Thierry to double up on either wing if required.
The Giroud-Bergkamp combo will mean a very strong central attack with ability to create space and passing options for other attackers.
But its just a bit of fun.
Nice one, Eris. Similar to others. Never would choose Cole myself.
How sweet it is to have the best two…
https://www.fourfourtwo.com/person/player/best-centre-backs-in-the-world?
Too many adds in that article gor me, Stu. Sweet indeed.
A great game by red Manchester, and Citeh were spared a bigger humiliation by VAR/off site trap and woodwork. Just what we needed for our game v Forest. CoyrrGs.
It’s up for grabs now..,
Gooooooood morning, lads. What a cracking way to start the day, Mancs and Spuds getting spanked, Liverpool dropping points, and another Arsenal game in this thick and fast month of football.
Yes Stu, great day until now.
Arsenal: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber, Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard, Madueke, Martinelli, Gyokeres.
Subs: Arrizabalaga, Mosquera, Lewis-Skelly, Merino, Havertz, Eze, Saka, Trossard, Jesus.
Nottingham Forest: Sels, Williams, Murillo, Milenkovic, Aina, Anderson, Dominguez, Hudson-Odoi, Sangare, Gibbs-White, Jesus.
Subs: Gunn, Morato, Luiz, Yates, Savona, McAtee, Hutchinson, Ndoye, Awoniyi.
Madueke amd Martinelli on the flanks, Victor upfront….. amd what a bench!
What a shame to not take the full points today. Not starting with Leandro and Bukayo seems a mistake, but i get the need to rotate. Still, we gain on Citeh, and we are warned about MU. Big game coming up at the home of football.
To distract ya’all from the dodgy penalty decision and the two dropped points :
An entirely Spanish Arsenal team…
Raya
Bellerin Mosquera Mari Monreal
Carzola Arteta Zubimendi Fabregas
Merino Reyes
As far as I can see there are five other nations from which can be drawn an entire Arsenal team (with positional integrity).
Can you guess them?
Five?! Can only think of France, Stu.
Thats a strong Spanish Arsenal side.
Hard to be distracted from that missed opportunity to go 9 points clear; still, 7 points clear is still a good gap (if it was not Pep’s Man City). We can’t take our eyes off Aston Villa either, as they could be 4 points behind by the end of today, unless Everton do some madness.
I thought that was a penalty, all day long, as Aina had used his hand to prevent the ball going over the line for a corner kick. VAR was Darren England and with that combo, no way was that call going to be given, with 10 minutes of time remaining.
We may just have to do this the hard way, after so long without a title.
Very good Spanish 11 there, Stuart.
Five other nations? Well, that would include England (😜), France, Germany, Brazil and, maybe, the Netherlands?
I can’t name all of the players, though. Some research will be necessary. Where is PB when you need his expertise? 😁
The Super Eagles did win the 3rd place game against Salah’s Egypt in a penalty shootout. If I am being honest, it didn’t need to have gotten to that as both teams may have had a chance to score in open play, with Nigeria edging it. So, a deserved Bronze medal for the lads.
Like we say about Arsenal, I thought this was the year for Nigeria to add to their haul but the host nation usually carries an added factor in these tournaments and we met them in the semis.
Stu, what about an Irish XI?
VAR is usually right even if it takes an age to get there, but the co-commentator – and they don’t usually commit too soon – said it was harsh but it was a penalty, cue embarrassing silence from both commentators after the decision. PGMOL were always going to double down on their man’s decision even though they must know it was an error. All the other non-Arsenal pundits were obviously going to agree with the VAR because they’re desperate not to see Arsenal extend their lead. Partly because it might devalue the greatest show on earth and partly because they don’t like Arsenal.
With so many tiring games you need a break and that was it but Darren England took it away from us. I don’t care about the harshness of the decision just get it right that’s why they get paid the big bucks.
A trip to Milano and a less intense game that should make a nice change and allow Arteta to mix n match. Then 5 days off before United, that must be like heaven to our lads…
Only 13 days before the window closes, I wonder if Berta will pull a young rabbit or two out of his hat?
Excellent idea, Stu.
And a hardcore all-Spanish Arsenal XI (even without the underappreciated Lucas Perez).
I do have the capacity, tools (and the slight perversion) to research that we had a swarm of Scottish players as well as the 29-29 of Irish and Welsh, but to be honest – despite me feeling old more and more often – out of those 120+ playes I know maybe 5 (Tierney, Dickov, Nicholas, Ramsey and Hartson), even with the recent academy players (Gilmour, Burton Sweet, Ballard) it is not enough to combine a non-English GB XI.
In fact while the numbers just add up, I wouldn’t ba able to field a German starting line-up without Malz, Volz and Méndez (whom I have never heard of).
And I don’t want to spoil the fun of making your favorite all-French XI (although you might struggle with the goalkeeper).
So I sign off with the Brazilian selection:
Neto
Luiz-Gabriel-Sylvinho
G.Silva
Edu-Denilson-Babptista
Willian-Jesus-Martinelli
Nice going, PB. I would easily have lost sight of the number of Scottish players; and for the Brazilians, Neto was far from my mind. You could have Gilbert Silva in his favourite midfield role if you added Andre Santos as full back for a 4-3-3. Or, is that a 3-1-3-3 formation?
Would Eduardo da Silva pass for a Brazilian, for this exercise?
Well done, lads. Those countries are Spain, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, and (thanks PB, Brazil- I couldn’t locate Neto in my memory bank).
LG would have guessed the French keeper is Guillaume Warmuz, joining his country men:
Warmuz
Sagna Saliba Koscielny Clichy
Nasri Viera Petit Pires
Henry Giroud
Those boys would give the Spanish Arsenal a run for their money.
I’ve got an Irish X1, Kev, but cannot decide yet on the right winger.
Congrats on the bronze, Eris.
Everton 1-0 up. Could turn out a reasonable weekend after all.
No, Eris, tho’ he was born in Brazil he played for Croatia. Paddy Viera was born in Senegal and Declan Rice in Ireland. So, birth place is trumped if the player has played internationally for another country.
I think Davor Suker was our only other Croatian player. Tho’ I could have qualified through my Croatian grandfather… 😆
Everton have done us a favour.
Flamini and Lacazette, Stu.
Despite some of the usual online doom and gloom we’ve actually come out of this weekend stronger than we went into it.
Most of our players are fit or close to fitness just as we move into the crucial stage of this season, so it won’t be long before the MSM begin to denigrate this season as a poor one!
Of course it is, Arsenal are top of the league and looking likely to win it, much to the chagrin of all the haters…
Where would you squeeze them in, Total? Arsene’s French revolution certainly filled our treasure chest. He signed everyone of those players. In fact I cannot think of a Frenchman playing for Arsenal before Arsene became Manager.
You are right, Kev. Let’s take joy in all that chagrin.
Capital D Drama in the AFCON final. Bit of a bore up until the penalty incident and then it exploded. And what a winning goal…
Not sure, Stu. 3 at the back and Nasri left too soon sadly, so i take him out too.
Stuart, your French 11 will certainly beat the Spanish 11 you put up; I am not too sure about the keeper though, as I didn’t know him.
I think said Flamini and Lacazette will be great subs for the All-French 11.
Agreed, re Eduardo. He played for Croatia but was Brazilian, through and through.
Congratulations to the Teranga Lions of Senegal. Closing minutes of regulation time was nearly marred by a bit of petulance on the part of the Senegalese after they felt a bit of injustice was done to them when the Ref gave a pen after review. Diaz felt the weight of his nation on his shoulder and went for the Panenka, when putting his laces through the ball would certainly have won it for the hosts.
Great tournament, overall.
He didn’t stay as long as he should have – both for the club and for himself – but Manu Petit at his peak was a monster indeed, Stu.
His shift from LCB (where he excelled in youth teams and at the start of his professional career) to LDM was a – sometimes forgotten – stroke of genius from Arsène, too …
Just as with this – not forgotten – move: (sometimes) peripheral LW Thierry to lethal CF TH14, Arsenal benefited a lot from Arsène’s knowledge of the lads he had seen nurtured at Monaco.
I’ve often wondered if he tried to bring Thuram over as well; Lilian was born to emerge victorious of even the fiercest of PL battles …
Now, as fantasy XIs go, and other than Lilian, Antoine “Grizou” Griezmann would be at the top of my “French-players-you-would-have-loved-to-see-don-the-red-and-white” XI …
My pick for tonight:
Jesus (Havertz)
Eze-Nwaneri
LewisSkelly-Nørgaard-Merino
Timber-Gabriel-Mosquera-White
Kepa
… for Utd:
Havertz
Eze-Saka
Rice-Zubimendi-Merino
Timber-Gabriel-Saliba-White
Raya
… you may have noticed 😉 I got a bit tired of:
our 4-2-3-1
Myles LB
Bukayo stuck in his tiny pocket of space on the RW
…
COYG!!
Good morning, gentlemen.
Lilian Thuram made my team of the tournament in the ’98 World Cup. He was a right sided Maldini imho, could play full back or centre back and, yes LG, he would have improved our Invincibles (even tho’ I loved Lauren). That French defence conceded only two goals in the seven games it took to win that tournament. PB, could tell us if that is a record for WC winners.
I like your teams, LG. I’d only rest Ben White for this morning and have him fresh for Manure. Or have him do a half each with Timber at right back and give Myles another run on the left.
I might just have Platoche and Zizou above Antoine in that list, tho’.
Citeh getting pummeled at the moment.
Expecting a strong 11 with loads of subs after 60+ minutes.
LINE-UP
Arsenal: Raya, Timber, Saliba, Mosquera, Lewis-Skelly, Zubimendi, Merino, Eze, Saka, Trossard, Jesus
Subs: Arrizabalaga, Setford, White, Gabriel, Norgaard, Rice, Nwaneri, Odegaard, Martinelli, Madueke, Gyokeres, Havertz.
How does one explain City being trashed by a side that’s 26th on the table?
Inter: Sommer; Akanji, Acerbi, Bastoni; Luis Henrique, Barella, Zielinski, Sucic, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Thuram
Inter bench: J Martinez, De Vrij, Bonny, Frattesi, Diouf, Mkhitaryan, Carlos Augusto, Bisseck, Darmian, Calligaris, Cocchi, Esposito
Thanks for the lineup. I like it. Good to see Mosquero back.
Mosquera even.
Not “mine” but I like the starting XI a lot – just a bit worried that Bukayo’s “niggle” might get worse
C’mon boys!!
Tell me I’m not the only one thinking there’s been more inspiration, fluidity, … smile in these ten minutes than in the weeks since … when? the NLD?
Keep on keepin’ on, boys you’re making – at least – an old man very happy indeed!
Set Piece FC with Jesus upfront – some combination, eh?
What a smart header from Leo – what a smart player, period!
Lads I hadn’t feel that exhilarated in quite a while …
COYG
Sounds good, duc. I am restricted to listening to Arsenal.com. Saka seems to be enjoying himself.
What a great game of football this is; knockout-stage-level – and I don’t mean Ro16 by that.
Look, I like the lineup, the setup, I think both Gyö and Øde deserved to get a taste of the bench, but there’s more … to be fair to them in particular, I think how free-minded, light-footed, happy-go-lucky the lads look tonight, goes to show how stressed the starting XI in our PL games is, at the idea of contributing to failure at winning the PL title this season.
Tbh, I didn’t realize that – and, as a consequence of which, was at my grumpiest self in front of my TV screen – before watching tonight’s game.
COYG
Duc, nobody plays with two CFs against us, and the space this leads to is almost alien to the PL. I th8nk thats the difference.
You have a point, T.
But I do, too 😁
Gyö on the break for the coup de grâce now … that’d be great.
You have, duc. All sounds good on the radio.
You cslled it!
Guess there is some kind of “Pluribus”-like hive mind you just have to express your wishes to, looking after our Arsenal fans’ lives …
The importance of finishing 1st or 2nd of the group stage this season wasn’t lost on staff-players, obviously; what a night!
Nice one, le duc et bon nuit
Yeh, mate, “out of many, one”.
We have had some great nights at the San Siro, but that may have been perhaps our most relentlessly professional performance there yet. Our travelling supporters were in brilliant form, “you only came to see The Arsenal” so very fitting.
Our Eb’s needs a confidence booster, something I think Myles received with his performance. Five days to recover and prepare for Carrick’s boys.
Just goes to show that a good football game is still possible when you have two teams willing to attack each other and you have a quality referee!
Delighted for the team, Myles was almost back to his best and he spoke so well afterwards. Jesus and Viktor scoring was just the ticket. Mosquera despite some difficult moments came out out of the game exceptionally well. Raya was tip top.
Arteta got his tactics and selections right and brought on his finishers at the optimum time.
Great point about the space provided in European nights, compared to the EPL. Indeed, yet to see the team that will play two CFs against us, knowing the damage our lads can do.
Just see how 17th placed Spurs appear to be doing well and placed 4th on the UCL table. If results go well by the last group matches, the EPL could have 4 teams in the top 8!! That’s a statement of superiority.
Eris, my celestial friend, I’d rather the PL clubs had play off matches to contend with, a couple more games for City, Liverpool etc would be excellent news for us. Tottenham don’t matter…
How do you think Ethan will do at Marseille, LG?
He’ll be worshipped in no time, Stu.
His footwork, his risk-loving, tight-rope-walking style, the venom in his shots; OM fans don’t need much – I’ll give anyone that – but a cherubim-faced, ruthless predator like our lad is sure to make ’em go beserk. Then … well, as an attacking player, once you’ve tamed the Vélodrome, surfed the flames of the erupting volcano … there’s nothing you can’t achieve in football, really. Also, I think Greenwood will help him find his footing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Auba took him under his wings the moment he sets foot in Phocaea, too …
Have only watched very little of OM this season; this is about to change …
Thanks mate. Love your description of the Velodrome. I’ll be able to watch their games, too. Will do so with interest. I’m not sure if under Auba’s wings is the safest place for a young fella. I went to a place called Foca in Turkey. Is this not the ancient Phocaea?
I hear you, Kev; and I’d want for our rivals to have more games too, but some things, you just have no influence over.😎
At the close of today, the EPL has 5 clubs in the top 8. Of the UCL table, Man City being the only English side outside that group, for now. Amazing stuff. What are the odds that we would have to knock out an English side or two to achieve our dream of a first UCL trophy?
After a good start, OM rolled over and allowed Liverpool make light work of them at the Stade Velodrome. Greenwood was the player with the most threat from them. Maybe, they do need young Ethan and would play him a lot to the end of the season. De Zerbi must know a bit of Ethan Nwaneri too, so it might just work out for the lad.
(Had to look it up, didn’t know it) … but you’re definitely right, mate … btw, is there a square foot on earth you haven’t been to? Just askin’. 😊
I did know calling Marseille Phocæa was poetic licence, though; down here we call it “La Cité Phocéenne” – “founded by” Phocæa settlers …
Anyway, it’s a wonderful city; I don’t know if there’s any more eficient mind-purifier than one afternoon in “Les Calanques” or “Le Frioul” (past “Le Château d’If”); as for Corsica (Bastia or Ajaccio) it’s only a 45-minute-flight away!!
Our boy will be just fine … And he should get playing time, you know; OM just don’t have any N°10 in their squad – he might feel somewhat lost in the Twilight Zone the moment he sees Jürrien’s twin turn up, though …
I’ve started considering a NLD Ro16 (don’t want “them” to go any further, anyway) tie, with return leg in Holloway, Eris. Didn’t I just have a few words about erupting volcanoes?
I wouldn’t want our way to triumph, from the Ro16 onwards, to look like last-season-PSG’s, though …
Actually, I don’t think UEFA would, either.
We Kiwi’s are prone to wandering, LG and your words only further whet my appetite. Sarah and I journeyed through Languedoc and Provence for our 25th anni some years back, Carcassonne, Aix and the hill towns so redolent of Tuscany and Umbria are utterly dream like. The Good Book reads, “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those that love Him”. When I wandered through the south of your country I found myself asking, are there indeed places more beautiful than these?
I’d forgotten that De Zerbi is in charge of coaching at Marseille. What a wonderful opportunity for Ethan, the coach, the stadium, the city, the environs. He is a blessed young man.
Indeed, Jurrien’s twin brother joined OM yesterday so that quip about Ethan in the twilight zone is apt. I hope it works a treat for his loan spell.
Ethan is rumoured to be a starter tonight, at home against Lens, who are top of the league. Greenwood might be rested before next Wednesday’s crucial CL away game at Bruges, so that it’s very likely our lad will take his spot on the RW. Quinten T. should get a start right away, too …
Won’t be able to watch, though – my dear ol’ FC Rouen, who are top of “National” (3rd-tier of French football), host Dijon, who are 2nd – two points behind. So a trip down memory lane, to the Stade Robert-Diochon, it’ll be for me tonight. Should they win, and put Sochaux (3rd at the moment, 5 points behind) to the sword next week; Ligue 2 here we come will definitely be on the menu …
“Allez les Rouges”!!
Allez les Rouges. Enjoy the game duc de Normandie.
new post 🙂
