Letting Alex Song go is proving to be costly for Arsenal

Last season’s ‘under-song’ Cameroonian hero, Alex Song, has been the one player Arsene could not afford to let go without replacing him adequately this summer.

There have been many fellow Gooners last season who kept pointing out that Arteta was so much more important than Song; that it was the Spaniard who did all the defensive hard work, whilst Song was simply not sticking to his defensive tasks, and was as such letting the team down. But they were wrong, and it is only becoming clear now how much the Spaniard needed the Cameroonian to do his job properly.

I was pretty devastated when I heard Song had been sold to Barcelona. The combination of Song and Arteta in the centre of our midfield had grown into something special: they got to know each other really well, and became very good at sharing the responsibility of both shielding the defence and helping out our attack. In a poll I organised during the summer on the ‘ArsenalArsenal’ blog, Song and Arteta were voted as the best Arsenal pairing of last season.

Song was clearly asked by Arsene to help out on the creative front. Our most advanced midfielders, either Ramsey or Rosicky, were often struggling to make things happen up-front, and needed support from either Arteta or Song in our 4-3-3 system. Much to everyone’s surprise, it was Song not Arteta, who took up this task; and he did it with verve. Without his double-figure assists tally – 14 in all competitions, and 11 in the PL – we would never have finished in the top-four last season.

In his last year at Arsenal, Alex Song showed he had become an all-round midfielder. Yes, he sometimes gave the ball away unnecessarily, and suffered occasionally from a lapse of concentration, but they seldom or never led to us conceding a goal. Song was a slow starter during games, but once he got going he was unstoppable: a total force to be reckoned with. One of his best games was the home win against Milan in the CL last season, in which he played as a classical DM in front of our defence. I will never forget his performance in that game.

There were some rumours that Song had fallen out with Bould and Wenger, as a result of not sticking to instructions given to him during practice sessions in the summer. But it is far more likely that Song was sold because he and his agent kept asking for a new contract that included – by all accounts – a significant, but not entirely unreasonable, pay increase as the main objective.

Song believed he had earned this; as he felt his performances, status and contributions to Arsenal’s overall achievements had significantly risen during the course of last season. I think he had a point, but he obviously upset Wenger so much that the Frenchman allowed him to move on.

Barcelona came knocking on the door, and before we knew it, he was allowed to join the Catalans and our former hero Fabregas, without much of a fight at all. Two players who had been developed to incredible levels by Arsene were allowed to leave when they were at the prime of their footballing lives: such a shame!

I can see why Wenger believed he could compensate the loss of Song, but until now it has not worked out for us very well. Diaby made us instantly forget about Song, but then he got injured – no surprise there. His replacements: either Ramsey or Coquelin, have struggled to convince us in that pivotal role, and only now that Jack is back are we starting to get our shape and control back in midfield.

Arteta has started really well, but once again is being overplayed and should have been rested more. However, Arsene has limited options to replace him. Coquelin and Frimpong are still too inexperienced and Wenger has not risked them in the ‘anchor’ position yet. All recent games already turned into ‘must-win’ encounters, in which Wenger feels he needs to play his strongest team every time.

In my view, we have really missed Song during the last few months. He can play in both Arteta’s position and the linchpin position (the one next to Arteta in a 4-2-1-3) and he would have helped us to keep a better shape in our formation; and deal with pressure on our defence a lot better. Arteta would have been rested more, and Cazorla would have had better support in trying to create attacking moves in the last few months, if and when the Cameroonian would have played in the linchpin position.

Arsenal remain thin on the ground with regards to a long term, adequate replacement for Arteta in case of injury. I am all for giving Coquelin a chance in the ‘anchor’ role, but he is inexperienced and it all comes with a high risk: it is better to keep easing him into the team.

Arsenal should not have sold Song last summer imo, but hopefully Arsene is still on the look-out for a strong and experienced defensive midfielder, who can also help out on the creative side if and when required.

Total Arsenal.

  • RA wrote (at end of previous post):

    ‘TA,
I read that the original injury sustained at Sunderland caused a knock on effect on other muscles and bones elsewhere in his body..
This knock on damage to those ‘non-injured’ sites unbalanced him which caused other problems elsewhere and so on.
The treatment he eventually received in France, last summer, helped him to re-balance his body and take the strain off the ligaments and muscles that were now causing the problem.
Unfortunately, I suppose that if he did not exercise properly it could cause a repeat of the old problem and he went back into the same cycle of injury causing other injury.
    Poor guy!
[That is my understanding of the problem and may be totally wrong]’

Thanks RA, I did not know that. Abou is one of those players who I just don’t really get: what does he think, what is he passionate about, how much does not playing football for large periods bother him; is he frustrated or totally philosophical about it? 😕

  • TA,

I heard that at one time he needed counselling because he was so depressed!
He knows his career is at stake.

[Again, I don’t know if this is accurate – I read so many things I forget quite where I hear these things.]

  • cheers for the article TA, and RA for that comment about Diaby. I feel really sorry for the bloke. To be at such a level knowing full well that you can achieve great things, yet your body won’t allow it, must be very depressing.

I don’t miss Song, if he wanted a bumper deal and wasn’t following instructions he should have remembered who made him, and who had faith in him while not many did. At the end of the day if Jack was ready game 1 and was 100% we’d all be saying ‘Song who?’

continuity is what we have missed. From diaby, to ramsey, to wilshere, to coquelin. We haven’t had anyone to settle in that position. I would have liked Coquelin to be told ‘the position is yours, go out and show us what you’re made of’
A big show of faith could of made him excel, instead he comes in and is expected to perform in games here and there.
He deserved it, Diaby didn’t earn it back and should have been micro managed in the under 21’s.

  • Hi Oz,

We have really missed him imo; especially in the CL games. Song can do what neither Arteta or Jack can do, but you are right that Coquelin has the potential to replace him. If Arteta gets a long-term injury we are going to have to hope that Coquelin can fill his boots. From what I have seen until now, the answer is still no.

  • TA, coquelin asked for me to give you this haha:

I agree he was really good at standing up in a tackle, and held off opponents well. I still preferred him as a CB though.

  • Hi Oz,

The video is a bit misleading as it only shows his attacking contributions, but you are right: the move against BD – when we did not seem to find a way through – was sublime.

It is a shame that he left just when Bouldie arrived, because I am sure he would have helped Song tremendously in coming out of his shell a bit more, as in more verbal and demanding of others.

Ah well, he is gone and Coquelin can get there but it just takes time to gain the confidence and the necessary experience.

  • Come on Guys.. Hatred can only bring sorrow..
RvP and Song were our stars.. they did help us a lot last season..
If not because of them.. and Walcott.. we would never end at 3th place..
And no way did we could got Cozorla, Giroud and Podolski to Emirates if we were not in UCL championship.. Face it as a fact.. don’t try to deny it..
And stop calling them a traitor or Judas.. They don’t deserve that..

Talking of Song make me feel pity for him.. He only a subs in Barca and play as a CB..
Vilanova will never treat him like Wenger did.. very wasted ability of him..

About Coquelin.. sorry to say.. I don’t really see his potential.. not yet..
He is just another Ramsey.. unstable and only fit as a bench..
I prefer watching Yennaris.. he can play as defender and midfielder.. so he can be a good DM.. Yennaris and Eisfeld should give some chance.. both will be great.. believe me.. (I know what I’m doing..) hehehe..

  • Hi Henry 🙂

Am busy at the moment but will get back to you re RvP being a Judas and why he deserves to be called like that for the rest of his life.

  • Morning Henry…i agree with Eisfeld, what I have seen of him I like. Wenger should start giving him cameo parts and give him a run out at the end of games to get some experience. I think this kid will shine.
Yennaris has potential, but he looks a bit on the small side. We need a big strong midfielder = Fellaini.

  • BK’ers …..Does any one fancy having a bit of fun at week ends?

If enough fancy it I will run a predictions league and keep tabs on points awarded for correct predictions.

Every Saturday I do an accumulator, and I know Herb does. I wondered if you fancy doing predictions from the Premiership and Championship, JUST FOR FUN.

    Example =
This week ends fixtures from the Premiership and Championship. Lets say you predict 5 x homes/aways/draws.

1 point for each correct prediction. We can have the top weekly, top monthly and top yearly predictor.

Lets say Total has picked =
    Home wins for Arsenal/Liverpool/Norwich
    Draw for ManCity v AV
    Away for Barnsley

3 of his predictions are correct so he scores 3 points.

Lets say Herb has picked =
    Home wins for Arsenal/Birmingham
Draws for QPR v Soton/West Brom Chelsea
    Away for Wolves

All five are correct so he would score 5 points and be the leader that week.

The bookies favourite as at 09-00 the 13th November is Herb at 6-4
second favourite is Total at 3-1
    Third favourite TMHT at 4-1.

Herb that week would wear the yellow jersey and GLiC would have the hat with a big fat “D” on it.

    Let me know.

  • Hi Henry

I respect your views re van Judas: you are much more forgiving than I am. I have moved on from Nasri deserting us, and I have always respected Cesc’s choice, but what van Judas has done will not be forgiven.

He insulted the club so much by not honouring his contract; by attacking the way the club is run so openly and by forcing a departure; by not paying us back for all the years and money the club invested in him; by going to our fiercest rivals over the last twenty years; by flirting with Arsenal immortality – ‘I love this club and I am a Gunner for life’ – for so long (no hard feelings my arse!); and by scoring and celebrating goals in that horrible Manc shirt.

Instead of staying and moving us to the next level with the new signings of Podolski and Cazorla, OUR CAPTAIN deserted us when we needed him most for even more money, and the hope to win prizes more easily somewhere else. He should have fought for the club he said he loved, instead he choose to abandon it. Unforgivable, Henry.

  • Hi VCC 🙂

As discussed by email, I think it’s a great idea. Am I correct in thinking that we can choose any five of all the PL and Championship fixtures from the coming weekend? Or do you select five games and we need to predict whether it will be a home win, away win or a draw. From your examples I reckon it’s the former but can you please clarify?

  • Total….I think its best to have no restriction as to what game you select. That gives you a much wider spectrum of where people are coming from, and imo enhances the fun.

I hope guys on here take it up. I think we will have some fun with it. Especially taking the piss out of GLiC, cos he’s a twat as well as ugly. Light travels faster than sound….thats why GLiC appears brighter, until you hear him speak. lol.

  • I could have cried when Song left…especially for such a low fee. Creating goals is almost harder than scoring them in the modern game…with defences so well drilled.

Song had everything…and I agree how pointless it is to see him sat so deep for Barca..doing nothing but knock the ball 2-5 yards in any direction. What a waste of real talent.

Don’t even start me on them playing him at CB (unless its an emergency)

  • Sharkespeare, it’s his best position I think. He took Adebayor to school last season. He was left isolated every time and he did it with ease. Arsene himself said it was his best possie

  • Hi Sharkey……You are singing from the same song sheet as my Son. He’s still fuming after all this time. He loved him, in fact he misses him more than BSR.

  • Morning TA..

So.. Do you think RvP is planning his way out to MU..??
No way.. He never said one single word about MU before..
Yes.. The player have the right to sign or not to sign the contract..
a lot of reason.. but one of the main maybe salary..
But only the Board and Wenger had the power to choose.. Just like Mou did to Sahin..
Not only MU wanted RvP.. Juve, City and even Madrid / Barca.. but why they prefer MU.. Ask them,, don’t ask him..??

Fabregas indeed choose Barca.. and refused others.. Even some rumours said he provided his own money to bailed out his moving to Barca.. Do you think that was a heroic action..?? hehehe.. come on.. be fair..
And Why you think Fabregas is better than RvP.. Because he keep praising us..?? What for..?? RvP never insulted us.. did he..?? Or because he do great for MU and Fabs or Song just didn’t so good there..?? hehehehe..

Are we going to think the same about Walcott if he leaving this January..??

  • Henry, good friend 🙂

The club cannot force a player to sign at a particular club: it was his choice as he listened to the ‘little boy screaming Manure insight of him’. He wanted out badly and he forced it.

If a mercenary acts like a mercenary from the start, I respect that more than a player who says he loves the club and is a Gooner forever, and even accepts to become captain of our beloved club, only to force a leave as soon as he sees fit. How you can forgive him for that is beyond me, but I respect it nevertheless. 🙂

  • So VCC, games to choose from for coming weekend are:

    PL:
    ArsenalvTottenham
    LiverpoolvWigan
    Man CityvAston Villa
    NewcastlevSwansea
    QPRvSouthampton
    ReadingvEverton
    West BromvChelsea
    NorwichvMan Utd
    FulhamvSunderland
    West HamvStoke

    CS:
    BirminghamvHull
    BoltonvBarnsley
    Bristol CityvBlackpool
    BurnleyvCharlton
    CardiffvMiddlesbrough
    Crystal PalacevDerby
    HuddersfieldvBrighton
    LeicestervIpswich
    Nottm ForestvSheff Wed
    WatfordvWolves
    PeterboroughvBlackburn

    Total’s choices:
    ArsenalvSpuds = home win
    Man CityvAV = draw
    ReadingvEverton = draw
    LiverpoolvWigan = home win
    NewcastlevSwansea = draw

Did I do it right, VCC? 🙂

  • Total…..Although I agree with RvP being a turncoat, you have to look at the clubs stance. If they said no to ManUre and dug their heels in there”s nothing that Old Red face could do about it.

BTW I listened to Piers Morgan’s interview on TalkSport yesterday. He said Fergie rang Wenger personally about RvP. Piers said why did he not use three words? One being OFF.

Who will Gazidis let go next year? Sagna/Wilshere/? the mind boggles what he will do.

  • Total….yep thats right. I will put yours up on a spreadsheet.

You may find a pattern works out that certain guys are more successful that others, and it may develop into a cheeky £1 bet at the bookies. You never know.

    Thanks for that.

  • Morning All,
Henry, I agree regarding RvP. The ball was firmly in the court of the club, and it was up to Ivan Gazidis and Mr Wenger to sell the vision of our immediate future. It was up to the club to convince RvP that we are genuine contenders, whereas MU had nothing to prove because they’re always in the mix at the business end of the season. Yes they had a shocking CL campaign last season, but they won it in 2008, and have been in two finals since. And the way they are tactically set up means they attack with real menace, which we haven’t done since the days of Pires and Henry.
If Arsenal had shown real intent, and bought a player in the Benzema bracket instead of Giroud, I think RvP could have been tempted to stay, but we do everything these days with a cautious safety-first attitude instead of showing a bit more bravery.
That’s why we now have players such as Arteta, who probably wouldn’t even get in Everton’s starting XI now, because they’ve up-graded to Fellaini. How many games has Rosicky played since being given a new contract?
RvP should have stayed, not through force, but because Gazidis and Mr Wenger showed him an exciting vision that included Arsenal challenging for the EPL and CL titles, but they couldn’t, so he left to pursue his personal ambition of chasing winners medals. If it were just about money, he’d have accepted MC’s offer of £300,000 a week.
Hi VCC, I like your idea, sounds very interesting.

  • Thanks Herb…..I will await you predictions.

Dont tell Total, but after seeing his predictions I think he will be wearing the “D” hat and not GLiC after the week end. rolfing.

  • Morning Lady Boys

I started off measuring this morning for the concrete foundation pad hole`s, when I discovered some of the measurements weren`t quite right whilst using my scale ruler, so the man buildng the Love Shack will be coming around this afternoon at some time .
My advise for the day and if you dont already know this is, ” Measure twice, cut once !”, in this case measure twice , dig once !.
In Terry`s case , Measure once, stretch twice !.
In VCC`s case, look in the mirror in the morning and vomit all day !.
In Totals case, Measure hole in Dyke, stick knob in and save Holland from flooding !.
In Redders case, E=MC2_>~#(WTF) #%@(I)}[{}**…+() +…….= giving me and Oz f**king brain damage !.

As for the post, all I can say is, I didn`t get pissed off when Song left, where I was livid ( still am ) when Cesc and Penis over Brain or if you like Brave iron Penis ( fitting anagrams ) left.

Your anagram, Total Arsenal = A oral talents, better than Anal tear slot ! hahaha

  • Good Morning, my fine feathered friends!! 🙂

First the tricky bit, VCC I will enjoy having a dibble dabble with your predictions, so pinchig TA’s list from above, I will say …………………

    PL:
    ArsenalvTottenham
    LiverpoolvWigan
    Man CityvAston Villa
    NewcastlevSwansea
    QPRvSouthampton
    ReadingvEverton
    West BromvChelsea
    NorwichvMan Utd
    FulhamvSunderland
    West HamvStoke

    CardiffvMiddlesbrough
    Crystal PalacevDerby
    HuddersfieldvBrighton
    LeicestervIpswich
    Nottm ForestvSheff Wed
    WatfordvWolves

    RA’s choices:
    Arsenal v Spuds = Draw
Man City v AV = Home win
Liverpool v Wigan = Home win

    Easy peasy!! 😆

  • VCC predictions read…….

    All home wins for
    Arsenal
    ManCity
    QPR
    Crystal Palace
    Leicester City.

Probably top of the class come Monday. Now where did I put that Yellow jersey????? mmmmm

  • I never bet on Arsenal, so it will be :

    Chavs away win
    Man C home win
    Man U away win
    `pool home win
    W Ham home win

    Read it and weep !.

  • GLiC…..What did the Doctor say when you told him you felt like a pair of curtains?

Did he tell you to pull yourself together.

  • Actually VCC, I have a true funny story about behind the curtains and will have to tell you in person as it`s a bit naughty ! hahaha…I`m laughing thinking about it ! hahaha

  • VCC
It`s no good effing talking about it, get your arse around here !. How long will it take you to get here on your mobility scooter and how much did it cost for that personalised number plate….1 UMF ?

  • VCC
I`ve just looked on the DVLA site and there are loads of UMF`s on there. These caught the eye :
    V1 UMF @ £999
    VC13 UMF @ £399
    UM10 VCC @ £799
    Go for it ! hahaha

  • I like the £399. VC13 UMF. Thats cheap.

What about VC6 UMF. I can have the 6 turned into a C

  • Hi Total,
nice Post about Alex Song, it’s one of those, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s not there anymore.
I’m really unsure about how we should judge Mr Wenger. He isn’t IMO as good as HC, and the article I read by Phillipe Auclair was quite illuminating. We know he’s nobody’s fool, but the flaws are such that it is beginning to blight his early successes. It’s like he’s trying to win the F1 title in a Skoda, which is admirable but not realistic. He’s abandoned the tactical formation that brought a plethora of trophies, and is still using tactics designed to accommodate a player no longer at the club. Without doubt one of his big blind-spots is the Goalkeeping position, and that has been a major achillies heel since Lehmann left in 2007. He divides opinion like no other manager, and there are as many who regard him as a ‘great’ as those who will maintain he’s over-rated. As we’re the only major club he has managed, we have no real barometer His character and integrity is unquestionable. but that shouldn’t be used to mask his ability to build a winning football team.

  • Herb….Arsene Wenger has performed miracles for us in the past, with that I have no doubt.
He desperately misses David Dein imo. When Dein was there Wenger could get on with other matters and trust DD to get on with securing the players that they BOTH had agreed on. History proves since he has left we have been in decline pitch wise.

Now, Wenger does everything himself, except make the tea. This is not possible in a modern set up, if you want to be top in your field. He needs to trust Bould more and let him have the reins once in a while.

Your analogies are spot on and fantastically put = “Trying to win the F1 title with a Skoda”
and he has “Blind spots” ” I didn’t see it”.

He doesn’t see the frailties in some players imo, and perseveres far too long hoping they will come good in the end, as most have in the past.

If we win this Saturday try in your heart of hearts to give him some love, because deep deep down, I truly think he wants Arsenal to do well.

Other factors have not helped. The loss of our physio Lewin, has meant we wait longer to get our players back.

His ability to pluck an unknown gem has dwindled. He has tunnel vision and simply will not listen to anything not Wengeritte. ( if you know what I mean).

Lets all join Terry and love Wenger this week end.

    COYG

  • Here’s my five.
    Everton to win at Reading.
    MU to win at Norwich.
Fulham to win at home v. Sunderland.
Bolton to win at home v. Barnsley
    Blackburn to win at Peterborough.

  • Hi Herb,

That is a very well-balanced and fair comment @12.42.

It does feel he is trying to win the F1 in a Skoda – love the expression, even though Skoda is now VW. 😀

To a large extent, I am convinced he is forced to compete in a lesser vehicle and he has done wonders relatively, but it does sometimes feel he is too reluctant to buy an obvious star at the mid to top end of the market.

Virtually everybody he buys is either a young talent or a discovery by Arsene; a Wenger-gem. Recently, he has started to buy experienced players who he believes can improve further at Arsenal: Arteta, Pod, Cazorla, Mertesacker, but none of those players can be regarded as a top end of the market purchase. Of course this is not necessary, and it is well possible that the combination of very talented youth and experienced players with a bit of growth potential in the middle of their careers could be the best possible formula for Arsenal.

The biggest problem is the continuous transition and I agree with you that at the same time this gives Wenger a good excuse to cover up mistakes he makes. I can see him really struggling at the moment with making the team play as in the way he wants them to play. It is hard to tell what will happen in the next 6 weeks till Christmas: further demise or a run of good and winning football? You just don’t know with Arsene, but I still – just about – back him to turn it round once more.

  • Excellent comment TA!

If we lose again between now and January, I think the BoD will pressure him into trying to buy in Jan, but as we have discussed, that is not easy, as mid-season is not a time anyone wants to sell a talented player.

  • Hi Redders,
whilst GiE has submitted a good Post over at ‘AA’, I’m surprised he hasn’t included Everton in that list. They represent one of our biggest challenges for that 4th spot, more-so than Liverpool.

  • Hi Herb, it is really good for the PL that Everton are doing well at the moment. Moyes works wonders with his resources and seems to have got it together at the moment. It will be a big test when we go up there soon, although we have a good record against them.

I have been to a few Everton-Arsenal matches over the years, and there is always a great atmosphere, and lots of respect for Arsenal. My first ever life match in the UK was Everton-Villa back in 1993 and I will never forget the experience.

  • Oz, I hope your fourth prediction is right, the rest can go directly in the bin: bah!! 😥

And you RA, predicting a draw against the Spuds; what sort of fan you think you are?! 😈

  • haha I was thinking the same TA, RA how dare you!!! And to think I thought you were a good bloke haha
I do hope I’m wrong TA, I just see it as one of those games Everton will look to show others that they are the real deal, and not just pretenders. West Ham have really surprised me though

  • Nice post TA

I am sitting here scratching my head over this Song business. And thats not good, it indicates a high proportion of DHT is free flowing in my scalp, attcaking and miniturising the hair follicles causing Androgenic Alopecia. It cant damage the transplanted hair because they are geneticly not predisposed to baldness but the exsisting non transplanted hairs are under threat. As you can understand, i hate Alex song for this. Not only is the he increasing my need for a second transplant he is also doing it with a hairline that would be the envy of Joseph Stalin. Hes a total utter bastard.

We are definatly mising the guy though. As you say, he could play anywere in the midfield. What concerns me most at the moment is that he looks more effective than Santi in the offensive role and that worrys me. The total utter bastard. hahahaha

    Heres my 5

    Arsenal win, five nil
    Man City win
    Liverpool v Wigan Draw
    Utd win
    West Brom v Chelsea Draw

  • Hi Oz, agreed on the Hammers – they are doing unexpectedly well.

Re Everton: like Arsenal at times, it is these sort of games, when they are expected to do well, when they often don’t manage to win.

  • Hi herb,

Sorry not to respond earlier but I had an appointment this p.m. and was out.

I agree with you that Everton simply cannot be dismissed. Moyes (another Scotsman and one Arsenal should consider when AW retires) has the Toffees on a great run!

  • We have a league of seven so far. Thats fantastic. Many thanks chaps and chapesses.

I will be back later with odds ( as supplied by William Hill). Will be fun to see who has the longest odds.

    Laterz

  • And good afternoon to the rest of you lot! 🙂

I agree with you all, I am a wuz and a faint hearted jackanapes for predicting a draw with the Spuds. 😳

  • Red Arse. You naughty boy.

BTW. I showed Total mine earlier………he wern’t that impressed. ( Now, Now GLiC, we are talking predictions)

  • Maybe we could have a League table widget on the side and name it after the person who thought of it !.
The UMF Premier League !. hahaha

  • I am sorry if I misunderstood mijnheer, but how else could I read;

    “Total, utter bastard ” 😀

By the way, I forgot to say, though you could probably guess that I was and am completely mystified by the sale of Song.

It did not really better his career – other than bragging rights – and it has certainly not helped us.

On the other hand we were so lucky to be ‘turned down’ by Sahin as he has been an expensive disaster for the ‘Pool. Just shows buying someone with a great reputation can be problematic!

  • Exactly Total. It`s what makes Britain Great, taking the piss out of ourselves !.

    PS
In VCC`s case, it`s done by his carer !. hahaha

  • Aaah I am with you now Redders! 🙂

Sahin has indeed been a disappointment until now.

Right better go and cook something. U21 game is on ESPN, me thinks.

Catch you later. I will do a new post around nine tonight.

For those who are about to eat their dinner: bon appetite!

  • Something else you said was concerning Song’s defensive abilities, and that was at least in part, other than his skill, due to his rugged physique that so often came to our rescue when he muscled players off the ball.

    Pity!

  • In that case Total, I have my feet firmly on the ground and dont expect much and will be quite happy with a 4th spot trophy, until FFP has an effect in two years time. Then my self sustainability will conquer all and leave the likes of Stretch and Redders with their dirty money syphoned from their clients accounts gasping in my wake. As for that Social security scrounging invalidity, incapacity and ugliness benefit cheat, he wil have to bet on a Thursdays !. hahaha

  • That does not sound good, Glicster, and here I was about to ask you for an interest free loan, to help me keep my 19 stone together!! 😀

  • Here are the odds supplied by the weekend football site.

    Total = 258-1
    TMHT = 57-1
    RA = 24-1
    Herb = 24-1
    Oz = 23-1
    VCC = 13-1
    GLiC = 10-1

    Good luck all

  • 57-1, definatly gona put a fiver on that. Its the draws that do it, they are almost always more than 2-1

Won a couple of grand on the horses before but never more than £250 on the football. Considering ive probably done 1000 football bets its not looking good for me. hahaha

  • VCC
That ” curtains ” joke is nearly as old as you. So I have made a new up to date version just for you !

    VCC ……” Doctor, I keep thinking I`m a pair of Beef Curtains ” !
Doctor…..” excellent self diagnosis VCC, yes, your quite right, you are a c**t ” ! hahaha

  • 3 men die on Christmas eve.

To get to heaven St Peter says, you must have something on you that represents Christmas.

Englishman flicks on his lighter and says “Its a candle” St Peter lets him pass.

Welshman jingles his keys and says “there Christmas bells” St. Peter lets him pass.

Irishman pulls out a “G” string and a bra. St. Peter says how the f— does that represent Christmas?

    Paddy says their Carols.
